IntelliCeuticals Review & Giveaway

Ever since the adverse reaction Dilly had to some OTC cold medicine I have become increasingly interested in natural remedies.  That’s what makes IntelliCeuticals a great match for me – all of their products are healthy and natural remedies that help mom and baby feel their best.  They have two product lines: before baby & after baby. We received two of the products in the after baby line to try out.
I was quite excited to try out the Clearaway Cradle Cream.  Sugar has had some wicked cradle cap since she was born, but with that thick long hair it has been a struggle to get it to go away.  Many people had suggested slathering her with olive oil, but then I would have a baby that resembled Danny Zuko from Grease.  So what makes Clearaway Cradle Cream effective?  It contains the following ingredients:
  • Almond essential oil (Oleum prunus amygdalas) (dried kernel) is a moisturizing oil that is natural and, as such, ideal for the susceptible skin on your baby’s scalp.
  • Marigold (Calendula officinalis) helps to maintain skin integrity and behaves as a gentle skin tonic.
  • Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is applied to dry, scaly skin to help with tone and apperance.
  • Heartsease (Viola tricolor) has an extended history of healing use and is a purifying herb. When used topically, Heartease is an exceptional skin tonic.
Clearaway Cradle Cream is very easy to use – gently rub on your baby’s scalp and then gently massage baby’s scalp with a soft wash cloth or towel.  Since Sugar’s hair is so thick I just used my fingers to massage her scalp…. which she absolutely loved as you can see.
The massaging helps to loosen the flakes which can then be removed with a soft brush.  After massaging Sugar’s scalp we gave her a bath and used a soft brush while shampooing her hair.  After her bath we combed her hair and lots of loose flakes easily came out.  This is not a miracle cream – all of Sugar’s cradle cap was not gone after one use – but it did significantly decrease.  After about 4 or 5 uses it is almost completely gone!  If you have a baby with thin hair or a baldie I bet that Clearaway Cradle Cream would work even faster.  I also want to mention that even though the tube looks small it goes a long way.
We also received the Harmonic Baby Aromatic Massage Oil to try.  Massaging has been recognized as a wonderful, gentle way to bond during the early months of life.  There are many benefits to using the Harmonic Baby Aromatic Massage Oil including soothing baby during times of fussiness, providing penetrating moisture, offers a boding opportunity, and ideal for a relaxing massage after bath or before bed time.  It contains the following ingredients:
  • Mandarin essential oil (Citrus reticulata) (outer peel fruit) is a gentle and elevating oil. It has harmonizing and stimulating properties and is well-known to maintain emotional balance. This oil is excellent to use with a massage before sleep.
  • Neroli essential oil (Citrus vulgaris and Citrus Bigardia) (flower)a perfect compliment to a relaxing massage, helping to pacify and brighten the baby’s spirit.
  • Chamomile essential oil (Matricaria chamomilla) (seeds) known for its calming and soothing properties.
It has a light scent that is very appealing to me and is simple to use.  Place the bottle in a cup of hot (not boiling) water to warm the oil.  Pour a small drop onto your hands and gently massage onto baby avoiding the face and genital areas.  We have recently started teaching Sugar to sleep through the night which is going very well.  Last night was the first night that Dustin would not be home when she was put to sleep so I was worried about her waking up and him not being here to comfort her since I can not go in since she would then want to nurse.  I decided to give her a massage using the Harmonic Baby Aromatic Massage Oil following her bath right before bed.  I think she definitely looks relaxed!  And it worked – munchkin slept in her bed through the night, she woke once or twice but went right back to sleep on her own.
I would definitely recommend these products and if we have another baby I want to try out some of the before baby products as well.  If you would like to purchase the products I discussed you can visit the IntelliCeuticals website where you can order the Clearaway Cradle Cream for $21.95 and the Harmonic Baby Aromatic Massage Oil for $19.50.  You could also win some here!  And I also have a coupon code to tell you about – enter code IC025 at checkout and you will receive 25% off your entire order!
