MyPurMist Review

Recently I have wrote a few posts about natural ways to treat things like teething and cradle cap, but with the seasons and weather changing (at least here in Ohio) that means lots of colds as well as sinus and allergy issues – so what is a good way to treat things of that nature naturally?  We always have cool mist humidifiers running in the girls rooms, but for some immediate relief you really need to check out MyPurMist!  It comes with the portable base unit, 1 adult mask, 1 pediatric mask, 1 storage bag, and 1 water fill cup.  The power source is permanently connected to the base unit.
So what exactly is the MyPurMist
MyPurMist is a safe and effective OTC product that uses a new technology for directing warm humidification to naturally relieve sinus symptoms associated with colds, flu, allergies, congestion and dry air. At the heart of MyPurMist is Capillary Force Vaporizer technology, previously only found in hospital humidification systems, which instantly vaporizes water in a self-contained area about the size of a quarter. The result is a safe, portable and germ-free vapor which provides directed humidification for sinus therapy.
The directed humidification of MyPurMist brings warmth into the sinuses which thins mucus and makes breathing easier. The moisture in the mist helps to relieve symptoms by soothing irritated tissues in the nose and the mouth, calming coughs and reducing dryness.  MyPurMist is effective for you and your children (over the age of 2) and because it disinfects (99.9999% germ free) and has no risk of scalding, you and your children can safely use MyPurMist.
Recently we have all been battling colds as well as sinus infections so the MyPurMist has definitely gotten some use.  Even though Sugar isn’t two yet I asked her pediatrician if he thought it would be ok to try out on her and after looking it over he said he didn’t think it would be a problem and to go ahead.  She and Dilly weren’t big fans, but I think with more frequent sessions they would get more comfortable with using the unit.  I was able to hold it a few inches away from Sugar’s face, so she did receive some benefits of the vapor and I noticed she was breathing a bit easier.  We even received a “Bubbles the Fish” pediatric mask and connector to make the experience a little bit more fun for the girls.
Dustin also tried it out and he said that he could tell it helped relieve his stuffy nose and scratchy throat.
As you can see Dustin is just lounging on one of the chairs in our living room while using the MyPurMist with one of our cats, Saber, watching closely, hehe.  That is one of the big perks of this system – since it is portable you can use it anywhere.  Barely able to get out of bed – just plug it in and use it in bed.  Vegetating on the couch nursing  a cold?  You can use it there too!  This is definitely a product that is great for a pregnant or nursing momma since there are very few OTC medications that are safe to take and since I have either been pregnant or nursing for practically the last 4 years I love having this readily available to use to help ease cold and sinus symptoms.  I will say it is a bit out of our budget, but if you can swing it then you will have a great tool for relieving symptoms naturally.
Want to purchase your own MyPurMist?  Head on over to the website where a unit can be purchased for $129.00.  If you would like to get your very own “Bubbles the Fish” pediatric mask they can be purchased for $10.

Other than our humidifier (love it), I haven't found any truly natural remedies that worked for baby girl's colds (and she got a lot of those this winter). I'd love to find some, though!

Hope this counts! :) PS: I nearly chuckled out loud at the cat in those pictures.

We have had a really bad cold season this year. If you can handle it, rinsing out your nostrils and sinuses with a netti pot and salt solution is really good for allergies and sinus infections.

We always pull out our humidifier at the first sign of sickness in the house. Unfortunately I just learned how important it is to empty humidifiers and clean them regularly, which means that our humidifier should be thrown away since there is no telling what it's releasing into the air. When my toddler is sick, I pull out the saline nasal drops and the "nose sucker" but when it's my husband or I we like to rest in bed with a hot cup of tea.

My favorite sinus remedy is my NeilMed sinus rinse bottle. It was a savior when I was pregnant and had multiple colds. I don't like the idea of taking medication and even while nursing it has been wonderful. I also use it daily and it keeps the colds away. I love it!!!

I haven't found anything natural to relieve my sinuses. For dd we usually will try a steamy bathroom and vicks when she's stuffy.
