Bungalow Transformation: Sweet Bobbins Review & Giveaway

When Dilly requested that her new room be orange I agreed that her curtains, wall decor, and bedding could be orange.  I thought it would be fun to have custom crib sheets as well as a custom crib skirt made for their new room that incorporated both the orange and pink.  Of course I knew exactly where to go for these custom items – Sweet Bobbins!  Soon after starting my blog I reviewed a Sweet Bobbins wet bag made by Angela and her hubby Michael who is better known as “The Snap-King,” hehe.  I absolutely love that wet bag and use it on almost a daily basis!  With this review and giveaway I got to see the talents of Angela’s cousin Rene.  Together Angela & Rene run Sweet Bobbins from opposite ends of the country!  Angela is located in Washington while Rene lives in South Carolina.

A bit about Rene:  She is a work at home mom to three teenagers!  Rene specializes in home decor projects and can make anything from custom patio furniture coverings, to draperies, to piano benches, and of course custom crib bedding!  Rene makes all the diaper pail liners and nursing covers for Sweet Bobbins plus has her own Etsy shop “Beautiful Home Designs.”  She loves custom projects and goes the extra mile to work out all the little details!

Dilly and Sugar each received a matching crib sheet – one for Dilly’s toddler bed and one for Sugar’s crib.  Sugar also received a crib skirt in a coordinating fabric.  Angela sent me a picture of the fabric and let me know that the sheets would be made in the owl fabric and the crib skirt would be made in the flower fabric.  I think it is amazing to see a piece of fabric become a functional product!  And so Rene took these fabrics and turned them into something awesome.

As I already mentioned the crib sheets we received were made from the Owls on a branch Quilter’s Cotton.  Each crib sheet measures 28″ wide by 53″ long with a 6″ depth.  There is elastic around each short end from corner to corner.  Since cottons and flannels shrink considerably when washed all Sweet Bobbins fabric is washed prior to being sewn.  I absolutely love how the girls sheets turned out!

So what if you can’t find the perfect sheet in the Sweet Bobbins Etsy Shop?  You can send fabric to them!!  Yup, for a custom crib sheet you would just need 2 yards of fabric or you can request a special fabric.  Rene and Angela absolutely love custom requests!

For the crib skirt Rene asked what specific measurements I would like the width, length, and height to be.  I went with 26.5″ wide by 51″ long with a height of 13″ so that it would just graze the floor when the crib would be on it’s lowest setting.  She also made sure to leave openings at each corner to accommodate for where the mattress support attaches to the crib frame as you can see in the next picture.

I absolutely love how nicely the crib skirt and sheets coordinate with each other.  Plus that beautiful crib skirt gives me the perfect place to hide the girls huge cardboard building blocks!  All of the seams are sewn with absolute perfection – everything is perfectly straight and absolutely beautiful.  The only suggestion I have is to make the elastic on the crib sheet go completely around the sheet.  Dilly moves around a LOT when she sleeps and the sheet tends to move around a tad.  I think if the elastic was all the way around this could be avoided, but other wise these sheets are absolutely gorgeous and we all love them!  I highly recommend Sweet Bobbins.  From wet bags to crib sheets to crib skirts I continue to be impressed and I know you will be too!

If you would like to order some custom crib sheets just visit the Sweet Bobbins Etsy Shop where they can be purchased for $29.50 plus shipping.  Angela and Rene have been super generous and also offered a custom crib sheet for a giveaway!  All you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter entry form below.  Oh and also check out the 1,000 sale Sweet Bobbins giveaway for a $20 gift card which ends October 8th!  It’s also a super simple Rafflecopter entry form!
