Up until a few weeks ago Sugar was fine wearing a pocket diaper with one microfiber insert and then she started leaking through every diaper. And so I started double stuffing because I assumed – correctly – that she had become a super crazy heavy wetter. But the problem lies in that when double stuffed with two microfiber inserts her butt looks enormous and jeans just don’t fit all that well. I had never been much of a fan of fitteds, but I have realized that was only because I didn’t give them much of a chance. And so today I am excited to tell you about the Thirsties Duo Fab Fitted and Duo Wrap!
I want to talk about each product separately and so let’s start with the Duo Fab Fitted which is pictured above left. We received the meadow Duo Fab Fitted with snap closure, but it also comes in a variety of colors most of which could be used on boys or girls as well as aplix closure. The main problem I mentioned about having to double stuff with microfiber inserts is the bulk they create, well the Duo Fab Fitted took care of this problem. In fact it is shaped for a trimmer appearance as well as comfort for mobile babies – and oh boy is Sugar mobile now. The materials that are sewn together to form the Duo Fab Fitted are what makes it truly awesome. The internal soaker is composed of spongy microfiber terry that can absorb up to seven times its weight in liquid – up to 18 ounces! Behind the soaker is a tunnel which can be used for stuffing in extra absorbancy, but even with my ridiculously heavy wetter I have not had to utilize this option. It is however also awesome for better washing and quicker drying times. Sugar has super sensitive skin so I am always concerned about the material that is right up against her bottom. In the Duo Fab Fitted you will find an entirely unique microfleece that is not only soft to the touch, but also works to keep babies skin dry therefore preventing diaper rash. Not to mention the outter cotton velour is super soft and has a velvet feel to it which Sugar loves. Oh and I also want to mention that the elastic around the waist and legs is gentle yet doesn’t allow anything to escape so now messes to deal with! Now to make this diaper water proof the a diaper cover or Duo Wrap must be added to the outside, but I decided to take some shots of Sugar in just the Duo Fab Fitted so you could see the trim fit.
The Thirsties Duo Wrap is the perfect wrap for over the Duo Fab Fitted as well as trifolded prefold diapers. We received the mango snap closure, but it is also available in numerous colors and prints as well as aplix closure. The elastic and leg gussets are awesome at keeping the messiest of messes inside where they belong. I also love that the inside of the Duo Wrap can be wiped out and air dried between uses which means less covers are needed in a diaper system rotation – more bang for you buck! Check out Sugar rockin the Duo Wrap over her Duo Fab Fitted.
The Duo Wrap and Duo Fab Fitted are available in two sizes. Size one fits from approximately 6 to 18 lbs and size two fits from 18 to 40 lbs. Sugar is wearing the size two and currently weighs 26 lbs. I know that some people tend to shy away from a two size diapering system, but there is actually a really good reason behind it. Most one size diapers fit from 10 to 32 lbs which means a newborn and toddler sized diaper would also be needed – making a one size diapering system actually need three sizes. And so with Thirsties two size diapering system you will be saving lots of money! And another thing that I love about Thirsties are that they are made in the United States most in the homes of work at home moms! How awesome is that?
I highly recommend the Duo Wrap and Duo Fab Fitted system. The wraps can be purchased for $12.75 (solids) or $13.75 (prints) and fitteds are $17.
