Review: Champ and Adapt-a-Snap
GoGreen Pocket Diapers was one of the first diapers I ever used on Sugar and still continue to use. In fact I liked them so much I bought a bundle of them soon after my first review because with their amazing prices I was able to grow my stash at a reasonable price. Before I start into this review of one of their newest products I wanted to share a timeline of Sugar rockin her GoGreen Diapers.
If you’re not familiar with GoGreen Pocket Diapers their company launched in late 2010… which means Sugar has been wearing their diapers from the very beginning! Founders of the company are Leah Leverich Ph.D and her husband Don Cooper Ph.D who have three little boys. With three young children in diapers, living in one of the “greenest” communities on earth, it became clear that disposable diapers were no longer going to cut it – financially, nor in terms of environmental impact. Don and Leah eagerly embarked on their cloth-diapering journey and quickly became fluff-addicted parents themselves. But like so many other cloth-diapering families, they had a difficult time stomaching the hefty start-up cost of commercially available cloth diapers. They also incorporated a number of novel design improvements into their affordable designs. Using experience from their years in science, Don and Leah addressed these problems head-on in the Champ™ cloth diaper with Dual Gussets™ Technology and their exclusive Adapt-a-Snap™ diaper closure conversion system.
- Dual pocket openings so the insert will agitate out in the wash.
- Snap on diaper & insert means no sorting laundry!
- Extended color coded snaps which makes this diaper a breeze for dads & babysitters.
- Dual gussets keep the messiest of messes right where they belong!
For a more in depth look at the Champ be sure to check out this blog post that I wrote a few months ago. Today I want to talk about a new awesome product that GoGreen has designed that you will not find anywhere else. The Adapt-a-Snap!
First I just want to say that this product is genius. It attaches to the Champ or any other diaper with two rows of 10 snaps that have standard 1 inch spacing to transform it into a velcro closure. I am a big fan of velcro diapers because they seem to get a more precise fit, especially on babies with tiny waists… but… and this is a big BUT. Velcro always seems to wear out and get fuzzy really fast from the constant washing that cloth diapers require, not to mention the diaper snake. No matter how many times I press velcro down onto their tabs for washing it comes undone and I have a huge diaper snake to deal with which only wears out the velcro even faster. The Adapt-a-Snap takes care of this problem because it gives you the convenience of velcro, yet it can be removed before washing so that it does not wear out. Then when your little one gets older and figures out how to remove a velcro diaper you can permanently remove the Adapt-a-Snap and go back to completely using the snap closure. Plus I have found that babysitters and grandparents prefer velcro when taking care of Sugar because it makes cloth as simple as a disposable which means when they need to watch her I can easily convert my diapers to be easier for them to use! I only wish that the velcro was a bit wider so that it extended a bit beyond the snaps that attach it to the diaper. Another option I thought of… and I hope this makes sense… is to affix the snaps to some sort of fabric, perhaps even PUL then sew the velcro on top of that which would make the entire piece of velcro usable. I’m not sure if this idea would be cost effective or not, but I would definitely be interested in them. In the mean time I am super happy using the Adapt-a-Snap as is because there is no other product out there that does the same thing. Plus it is very easy to use… check out Sugar rocking her Champ with Adapt-a-Snap.
