I don’t know many women who don’t like jewelry…. and jewelry with meaning behind it? Well that’s even better. When I found Maureen Mae Handmade Jewelry on Etsy I literally fell in love with her pieces.
Maureen is a mommy of twin boys and she absolutely loves to create things, in fact she needs to get her creative “fix” on a daily basis! She likes to take vintage finds and remake them into fresh jewelry pieces, but enjoys working with PMC the most. PMC is a clay-like material that forms pure fine silver when fired in a kiln – plus it’s made from recycled silver, yay for being ecofriendly!! Some of Maureen’s favorite things include most things French, ticking stripes, rainy days, the color white, flea markets, her twins, and sweet hubby. She likes to joke that her jewelry business is her “nap time business” because she gets most of her work done when her two year old twins are sleeping. What she doesn’t accomplish during nap time gets worked on at night when everyone else is asleep.
I received Maureen’s “due in” necklace which she created as a gift for a few of her friends that are moms to be. It arrived in the cutest bag – perfect for gift giving! Inside the bag is an adorable box which holds the necklace. The “due in” necklace is available in all twelve months. Each necklace is handmade and so no two will ever be exactly alike. The charm diameter is approximately 5/8” and is about 1mm thick. The jump ring is fine silver and is soldered….. I absolutely love this because I don’t know how many charms I have lost through out the years because the jump ring has pulled apart. In fact it was one of the first things I noticed when I took the necklace out of the box. The charm comes on an 18” sterling silver ball chain, but can be substituted for a 16” or 20” if you so choose.
Maureen also includes a how to care for your jewelry card which explains that your silver jewelry will naturally patina or tarnish over time and with wear. This can enhance the appearance of your charm, but if you prefer to keep it shiny and tarnish-free you can polish it with a polishing cloth or pad. She also notes that it is important to keep it in a dry, dark place and also in an anti-tarnish bag when you are not wearing your necklace.
I absolutely love my “due in” necklace and have received many compliments on it. There are so many other pieces in the Maureen Mae Handmade Jewelry Etsy shop that I would love to have too…
The jewelry in Maureen’s Etsy shop is absolutely gorgeous and made with lots of love and care. I highly suggest checking out her work and investing in a piece of jewelry that you are sure to cherish for the rest of your life. And right now you can use the code HUGS10 to receive 10% off your purchase!
