After I started cloth diapering Sugar I began looking at other aspects of my life that I was being wasteful in and one that stood out the most to me was how I was dealing with my menstrual cycles. Back when I started my period a looooong time ago the only options that were presented to me were pads and tampons and so I thought that was it. Well turns out there are more options and green options too! And so I was very excited to learn about the Diva Cup.
Periods are no fun and they were especially no fun when I was hoping for a positive pregnancy test every month…. but that is another post! Anyhow, I was getting super frustrated with buying tampons and pads every month just to throw them away. Not to mention they aren’t very sanitary and I really hated that gross feeling that left me wanting to shower about five times a day while menstruating. Well the Diva Cup came to my rescue!
The Diva Cup does not absorb your menstrual flow like a pad or tampon, instead it simple collects it. It is worn internally inside the lower base of the vaginal canal and because it is so small, smooth, soft, and flexible you won’t be able to feel it and it will NOT leak when inserted properly. But just a heads up – it will most likely take a few cycles to get the hang of inserting it properly, but once you get the hang of it you will be good to go! Since it is worn low in the vaginal canal and not near the cervix it is very easy to remove and then pour into the toilet. Plus it can be worn for up to 12 hours (perfect for over night) before emptying, washing, and reinserting – there is no tampon you can safely wear for 12 hours. And you don’t have to deal with getting different products for different flows. The Diva Cup will work for light to heavy flows – you will just have to empty a bit more frequently on days with heavier flows. Oh and with the Diva Cup you won’t have to alter your lifestyle for your period. You will be able to do everything you want including traveling, running, biking, hiking, dancing, camping, swimming, diving, scuba, yoga, extreme sports, and heck you can even pull out the white pants!
The Diva Cup is latex free, BPA free, and plastic free. There are no dyes, colors, or additives. And it comes with a convenient carrying case. There are only two sizes to choose from Model 1 (women under 30 who have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean) or Model 2 (women over 30 and/or have delivered vaginally or by caesarean). So are you ready to have a greener period? Diva Cups can be purchased online or at a store near you for $39.99!
And guess what? Diva Cup has offered one of my lucky readers their very own Diva Cup. To enter simply fill out the super simple Rafflecopter entry form below.

Learned that you can trim the stem which I thought was neat!
I like the idea that the company has been around for 38 years which means they have studied this product. I like that it is earth friendly and it will save me money.
I learned that the diva cup is a much more convenient and healthier option!
I learned that the original menstrual cup was made in the 1930s but the modern-day cup came about in 2003. I want to win one for the oh-so-fun postpartum phase I will be dealing with in April.
I have been using tampons for as long as I can remember and after I had my daughter, going on two years ago, they just haven’t been the same. They are irritating, uncomfortable, and on some occasions, have made me sick.
I would really love a Diva Cup seeing as though it is a safer, easier, more comfortable product.
I learned that Most women spend $150-200 U.S. a year on disposable tampons and pads. Wow, never thought about it before.
I learned it is made in Canada and BPA free. I would love one of these because I am trying hard to get into more “green living”practices and this is definitely a good one!
I learned it is worry free. I have been wanting to try it for a long time after hearing so many rave reviews.
