pregnancy journalWelcome to the second week of the “My Pregnancy Journal” meme, so if you are a pregger blogging mama then you will definitely wanna link up.

There are only three super simple rules that must be followed.

1.)  Grab the button from my right side bar and place in your post.
2.)  Copy & paste the questions you feel comfortable answering.
3.)  Link up with your pregnancy journal entry for this week at the bottom of my post – if you link to your blog’s home page unfortunately I will delete it from the list.

This week Baby Harper #3 is about .9 inches long and .07 ounces – or the green olivesize of a green olive.  She’s starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they’ll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Baby’s heart has finished dividing into four chambers, and the valves are starting to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic “tail” is completely gone. Baby’s organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won’t be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won’t open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones.  And here’s what Baby Harper #3 looks like…

About me & Baby Harper #3 this week….

Symptoms:   The morning sickness has pretty much subsided.  I have been having rather constant headaches – nothing like the migraine I had, but still not fun.  And I just can’t get over being sick…. I am dealing with a UTI now.  More about that down further.

Weight Gain: –3 pounds…. 159.  Being sick is not helpful.

Cravings:  I haven’t really craved anything….. fruits sound yummy though.

Food Aversions:  Hot food…. cold stuff is so much more appealing.

What made me cry this week:  I have been reading “The Hunger Games” trilogy and many places in the books have made me tear up.  What really made me cry this week was reading a blog that I have followed for many months…. “EB’ing a Mommy”.  Tripp passed away on January 14th and my heart just aches for his family.  I thank God that he passed peacefully, but I can not imagine what his mom is going through…. please pray for her.

Medical Stuff:  I thought for sure I was gonna have a week with no medical updates.  Of course that just couldn’t be.  On Saturday evening I started feeling some burning when I would try to pee.  Sunday morning I had enough and went to stat care knowing full well I had a UTI…. well the doctor there claimed my urine was normal and just gave me meds for the burning sensation.  On Monday morning I woke up and my bladder was hurting, so I called my OBGYN and they fit me in immediately.  I went in and they told me I had a very bad UTI – no kidding!  So I was put on antibiotics four times a day for seven days and was told if my back started hurting that I needed to go to the hospital because the infection may have made it to my kidneys.  Well what do you think was hurting when I woke up this morning??  Yup, my middle back on both sides…. so I went to the emergency room where I was pumped full of fluids and antibiotics.  Now I am home and continuing the rest of my antibiotics until they are gone to make sure the infection does not come back.  Seriously…. I just want a normal uneventful week.  That’s all I am asking for.  So please say a prayer for me that I can stay healthy.

Thoughts from Dilly:  She hasn’t really mentioned much about the baby this week.

Something I am excited about:  Hearing the heart beat.  The nurse at my OBGYN office tried to listen to it yesterday, but since I was only 9 weeks it was a long shot…. then she asked “Is your uterus tilted?”  Ummmm, yup…. and so that is why we definitely couldn’t hear it yet. :/ I did hear the whooshing sound of the placenta though which was kinda cool.
