Step2 Pedal Farm Tractor Review

step2logoI’m a bit of a Step2 addict.  These toys are built to last and I know that when I invest money in a toy made by Step2 that I will not be disappointed.  What I didn’t realize is that Step2 is literally in my back yard!  In fact their headquarters are only about 45 minutes away in Streetsboro, Ohio.  Plus they are the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys and the world’s largest rotational molder of plastics.

I had remembered my younger sister having a ride-on toy tractor when she was little and had been searching for one for Dilly because she absolutely loves her pappy’s big John Deere tractor.  And so I was super excited when Step2 brought their Pedal Farm Tractor back into production by popular demand!  When the tractor arrived at our home it did require quite a bit of adult assembly which I gladly let Dustin handle.  And so on Christmas Eve night he got all the pieces out and this is what he had to work with.

When putting the tractor together I heard Dustin grumbling a little bit because the directions only had pictures – there were no words explaining the steps which is what he prefers, but none the less after about an hour of working on it the tractor was complete.  After it was assembled he applied the decals and it was ready to go!

This is a large tractor measuring 28”H x 29.5”W x 20.5”D and is designed for children 3 and up so it was perfect for Dilly.  It has pivot steering and pedal drive action.  It has a wide wheel base which provides stability and the tires have rugged tread which help with easy maneuvering.  Plus this tractor is designed to hold children up to 60 pounds so the girls will get many years of use considering Dilly only weighs roughly 33 pounds right now.  When she walked down the stairs on Christmas morning and saw her brand new shiny green tractor the first thing she yelled was “Wow!  A tractor just like pappy’s!” and then she hopped right on.  Even Sugar likes to sit on it even though she can’t quite reach the pedals yet and the little compartment in the back is perfect for stashing a few stuffed animals or snacks.

The Step2 Pedal Farm Tractor can be purchased from the Step2 website for $79.99 and they even have a tractor trailer that is sold separately.  I would love to get the trailer for the girls for their birthday this coming Spring.  Another thing that I love about Step2 products are that they are made in the United States – right in Ohio!  If you are ever in the Streetsboro area be sure to stop by the Step2 freestanding company store.  There kids can kids can interact with over 30 toys built for display and play to try before mom and dad buy! The store offers open and private playtimes, special clearance deals, and birthday party packages. I definitely wanna take a drive out there with Dilly and Sugar to check it out!

the place my dad works for makes some of the wooden molds for step 2 products because of this I know how step 2 feels about the safety of their products. My dad has had a few times of getting the wooden mold back and step 2 found they had made design flaws that will affect the safety and had my dad’s work fix it before it ever hit the public. That’s an A+ in my book!
