17 WEEKS PREGNANT

This week Baby Girl is approximately 5.1” long and weighs 5.9 ounces – roughly the size of an onion… wonder if this has anything to do with the insane amount of tears I have cried this week?  Her skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Baby Girl can also move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.  And this is what she looks like…

About me & Baby Girl this week….

Symptoms:   I actually just realized that I took my PsiBands off two days ago and haven’t had to put them back on which means my morning sickness is going away or perhaps it is gone, yes let’s hope for GONE.  I’m a rather emotional wreck and have way too many pimples, but other than that I am doing much much better.

Weight Gain: no change, so still at 157 1/2 pounds.

Cravings:  Well yesterday I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple things and I had to buy a box of brownie mix, but I failed to remember to buy cooking spray.  And so I went walking across the street to my neighbors house with pan in hand to ask for cooking spray.  And guess what?  She didn’t think I was the least bit crazy, nope, just pregnant. Hehe.

Food Aversions:  Nothing really got to me this week…. some things just don’t sound good and so I don’t eat them, but that’s about it.  I am officially over the sweets issue…most likely just in time to get diagnosed with gestational diabetes again. Oh what fun.

What made me cry this week:  Well I had a few break downs over what I want Baby Girl’s name to be…. but then something amazing happened.  My hubby agreed to the name!!  I was SO SO SO happy.  This name is in remembrance of my grandmother that passed away in 2005 and Dustin’s grandma that is still living so it is very special to me. 

Medical Stuff:  Nothing to report.  I am so excited to type that.  I actually have an OB appointment tomorrow, but for now there is no news!!

Thoughts from Dilly:  While we were all out shopping – me, Dustin, and the girls – I told Dustin to buckle Dilly into her car seat and I would put Sugar in hers.  Well Dilly looked at me all serious and said “Mama you know you can’t pick up {Sugar’s name}!  She’s too heavy! There’s a baby in your belly!”  And yes she is right… I’m supposed to follow the 20 pound rule and Sugar is about 26 pounds, but how do you not pick up your kids??

Something I am excited about: On Saturday we go back to the 3d ultrasound facility and hopefully Baby Girl will cooperate so I can share some awesome photos of her with everyone!
