I decided to make the switch to cloth diapers when Sugar was roughly four months old and before doing so I read up on everything I could so I would know how to properly care for her fluff.  I remember realizing the only thing about switching to cloth that would drive the hubby crazy was that we could no longer use traditional dryer sheets and kinda dreaded telling him so because he goes crazy over static when taking clothes out of the dryer and folding them.  I had tried a few different things to eliminate the static from the clothes over the past two years, but nothing pleased him…. and then I found this interesting product – purecosheet.

Before I explain what purecosheets do I feel it is important to understand why traditional dryer sheets are not good for your health whether or not you are a cloth diapering household.  When you use traditional dryer sheets your clothes are basically being coated in a thin film of artificial chemical perfumes.  These chemical perfumes are extremely toxic – in fact they are known carcinogens!  They have been approved for use in consumer products only because they are not being consumed, but the truth is every chemical that touches your skin will find it’s way into your bloodstream.  So why on earth would it be a good idea to cover your clothes in these chemicals and then wear them?  It makes absolutely no sense!  Plus you are not supposed to use traditional dryer sheets on baby/children clothing because it reduces the clothing’s flame resistance and it lessens the absorbency on cloth diapers.  Two things that parents definitely do not want to happen.

And so purecosheets comes to the rescue – thank goodness.  The chemicals I mentioned before basically lubricate your clothing which inhibits static cling from building up, but purecosheets do this without chemicals!  Instead purecosheets act like antennas – conducting, equalizing, and removing any potential static charge in your dryer load.

So how do you use purecosheets?
Simply toss both sheets in with your laundry and they will last for hundreds of loads.  After three uses they need to be washed and then every three months after that.  They can be used immediately after being washed even if they are wet because they are effective wet or dry.  And the great thing is two purecosheets will last the typical family an entire year.  An entire year of chemical free laundry? Woooohooooo!!!

Plus purecosheets are safe for ALL skin types because they are 100% hypoallergenic.  They are 100% perfume, chemical, and dye free.  Oh and they can reduce energy costs!  I’m serious…. how you wonder?  Well traditional dryer sheets leave a chemical residue that clogs the dryers vents and covers the dry sensors which then makes the dryer work harder and longer to complete the same job.  Since purecosheets leave no chemical residue the inside of the dryer will remain clean and will not lose any of it’s effectiveness.  Pretty brilliant if you ask me.
