I am a momma that doesn’t like to be trapped at home when the hubby is at work. I prefer to be out and about with my kiddos at the park, local swimming pool, or anywhere really. But with another lil one on the way I realized I needed a stroller that would accommodate three children because even though Alleigh is four years old there are still times that she doesn’t want to walk constantly especially at places that require lots of walking – like the zoo – and instead of hearing whining I would much rather her have a place that she can sit too.
Luckily, Joovy came to the rescue with their Big Caboose Stand On Stroller.
The Big Caboose features two full size seats both with large canopies, 5 point harnesses, snack trays, foot rests, and will accommodate children six months and older. For younger infants you simply take off the snack trays and snap the universal car seat attachments (two included) that will work with most major brands of infant car seats – including the Chicco Keyfit 30 that we use. The rear platform is designed for children that are at least two and half years old to stand on or they can turn around and take a rest on the adjustable padded rear seat that is equipped with a three point harness. Alleigh absolutely loves her seat on the Big Caboose.
Something I really like about the stroller is that everything is very easy to adjust. With a simple movement of the bars behind the seats they recline. Oh and did you notice those extra storage nets on the back of each seat? Definitely a nice lil touch to stick your cell phone or other small necessities when out and about in addition to the huge storage basket underneath.
The foot rest adjusts just as easily with a small movement of a bar.
Since Willow hasn’t made her arrival yet we took the Big Caboose out on a test drive with Alleigh, Kaelyn, and the lil boy I used to babysit. The front seats can hold a child up to 40 pounds each and the rear platform/seat will accommodate a child up to 45 pounds and 44” tall. This means you can potentially be pushing 125 pounds of kiddos plus the weight of the stroller (37 pounds). With the three kiddos we had on board their combined weight was approximately 87 pounds and my big pregnant self had a bit of a struggle with that though Dustin didn’t have too much of an issue. I will mention that it is a bit hard to make sharp turns with and I think the pushing issue could be alleviated if the push handle was designed at more of an angle than directly above the rear wheels, other than that it did great.
Another thing to be aware of is when you fold down the Big Caboose – which is very simple – it is rather long, which is to be expected since it does accommodate three children. The actual folded dimensions are 14”H by 21.5”W by 63”L so make sure it will fit in your vehicle! You can also remove the front canopy and snack tray which will reduce the length by 9 inches.
So if you have a growing family and need to accommodate three children I highly suggest checking out the Joovy Big Caboose Stand On Triple Stroller which you can purchase for $379.99. Oh and be sure to check out all the other products you can find at Joovy including single/double/jogging strollers, playards, toys, carriers and more. I’m sure you will find something you love!
