Almost everyone has a moment in life they wish they could do-over. Now most things I don’t regret and wouldn’t change, but there are some instance that I definitely wish I could do-over. Ready to hear one of those stories?
First I need to introduce you to one of my past pets… Lillian.
First I know what you are thinking and yes Lillian is a rat – a domesticated hooded rat to be exact. She was such an awesome pet…. she loved sitting on my shoulder, cuddling down in the hood of my jackets, or crawling into the front pocket of my hoodies. And she was potty trained – always did her business in her cage. But what you want to hear about is my do-over moment. And so here we go…
I was moving out of my parents home to live in Kent, Ohio to be closer to my college campus. I had moved everything and the last thing to take with me
was Lillian. I got her all settled in her traveling cage and put it inside it’s fabric carrying case. I then loaded up the car with everything else including her huge cage with multiple climbing levels. While I was loading everything in the car I sat her on the roof. I hurried up and finished gathering everything up, jumped in the car, and pulled out onto the road. About a quarter mile down the road I looked up in my rear view mirror for some reason just in time to see a bright colored something fly off the back of my car. I hit the brakes, put the car in park, jumped out in the middle of the road and started running down the road…. in my heels (as I had just got off work)… screaming “LILLIAN!!!” Of course at this moment the local high school cross country team had to come running by and I looked like a complete lunatic. After scanning the side of the road I located Lillian’s cage and with trembling hands I picked it up and dreaded unzipping the door.
But when I unzipped the door there sat Lillian! She was ALIVE. There were no broken bones, scratches, or anything. It was truly a miracle. She was a bit shook up, but other wise in good shape. But I will tell you something I learned that day…. you never ever sit your rat on the roof of your car! That is definitely a moment in my life I wish I could do-over.
And speaking of doing things over if there is one thing that drives me crazy it’s when my dishwasher doesn’t do it’s job – ya know, getting the dishes CLEAN! If I wanted to hand wash dishes I would just do it in the first place. I am sure many other moms (and dads too) feel my pain with this issue. And so I was glad to hear that the Frigidaire Gallery™Dishwasher gets dishes fully cleaned the first time, so there are no dish do-overs. Nearly half of adults admit to re-washing and/or re-drying dishes after the dishwasher cycle has been completed. To prevent dishwasher do-overs, Frigidaire® is stepping in with its new Gallery® Dishwasher featuring the OrbitCleanTM Wash Arm, ensuring dishes are cleaned right the first time.

oh man! I was praying she lived all the way through that post. haha! That is definitely a miracle. I did that with my house keys one time only I never found them. Definitely a do-over moment for me. :/
ROFL!! Picturing you running in heels yelling “LILLIAN!” has me ROLLING!! Oh to see that in person….
Glad Lillian was ok. SO, what ever happened to Lillian?
I am busting up over here. I can totally picture the scene you described it so well. Glad Lillian made it out ok
LOL! So glad she was okay! I set my pearl ring on the roof of our car once because I was putting in a car seat and didn’t want it to get scratched…of course I forgot it there. We literally drove an hour before I remembered that I’d set it up there, and by then of course, it was gone and we had no idea where. I was crushed the whole day, (it was my first-anniversary present from hubby!)
When we were getting back in the car to go home from our trip, John opened the trunk and saw it: it had slid back and nestled right in the crevice of the trunk hinge area.
I couldn’t believe it and was SO relieved. I am paranoid about leaving stuff on top of cars now…and very glad we now have our huge SUV, so I’m not even tempted to set stuff way up there anymore
Eww rats! But, I love the story! lol I can just imagine you running down the street with your heels on screaming at the top of your lungs!! haha
I know it was probably traumatic but picturing that scene unfolding is kind of hilarious! I’m glad she was okay! (And I’m kind of digging the blonde hair.
)
Thanks for the giggle! Hehehe
so glad to hear lillian was ok.
Oh my goodness. I’m glad your rat survived! Lol but your story was awesome
