Did you know when grocery shopping choosing foods packaged certain ways makes a big difference? And choosing paperboard cartons is not only an ecofriendly option, but a healthy option too. Now obviously I was not aware of this because there wasn’t a single paperboard carton in my refrigerator. Well to be honest there wasn’t a whole lot of anything in there because I need to go grocery shopping within the next day or so…
So why are paper cartons so awesome? Glad ya asked!
From this very informative infographic you can see that paper cartons are the smart choice from beginning to end which then becomes the beginning again! Plus I had no idea that the carton blocks harmful UV light that can reduce the nutritional value of products like milk – which totally makes sense compared to a clear plastic gallon jug. Not to mention that cartons are recyclable for over 42 MILLION households!
I definitely want to start recycling more in our household and with this new knowledge I will be purchasing as many products in paper cartons as possible. If you want to make sure that your community participates in paper carton recycling you can contact your local recycling center or check out RecycleCartons.com.
And if you help share the story about how great paper cartons are you can help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Evergreen Packaging will donate $15,000 when 1,500 combined tweets and Facebook posts using the hash tag #choosecartons have been made sharing the awesomeness of paper cartons! Be sure to follow Evergreen Packaging on Facebook & Twitter to keep up to date on everything paper carton related. So help out and spread the knowledge with a few simple clicks.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Evergreen and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Wow, i never even thought about how things were packaged… Dont feel bad, my fridge is a lil emptier than yours…. I know what I’ll be looking for on the next trip to the grocery store!
Thanks for posting!! I try and buy in cartons… so much is packaged in plastic. A great documentary to watch if you are feeling up to it is called “Bag it”. It talks about disposable diapers, bottled water, and so much more!!
But Re-Play needs all those plastic jugs to make awesome feeding products….just kidding. I’ll let someone else give to their cause, and try to buy more plastic cartons!
Those are definitely good reasons to buy more products packaged in cartons. I really need to start paying more attention to these things. Thanks for the great post!
