Kelty Speedster Swivel Deluxe Jogging Stroller Review & Giveaway

If you are an exercising enthusiast adding a little one to your family shouldn’t stop you from taking those daily jogs.  But you will want a high quality jogging stroller and so I am excited to tell you about the Kelty Speedster Swivel Deluxe.  Since I am KELTY-logo_Orangebox_curvedhugely pregnant right now I enlisted my sister-in-law to help with reviewing this stroller since she has been running quite a few 5k’s lately and let’s just say she was just a teeny bit excited, hehe.

When I first took it out of the box this is what I found…

I did have to ask the hubby for a little help when putting this stroller together since jogging strollers are quite a bit different than a standard stroller. He laughed at me and asked if I had ever put a bicycle together because that was basically how the front wheel attached – but I have never put together a bicycle – so how should I know that? The tires did need some air added to them, but since we have an air compressor that was no problem. After that we were ready to roll… well I was ready to waddle… and my sister-in-law (Tiffany) was ready to roll, hehe.

And so let’s talk about all the great features that make the Kelty Speedster IMG_2450Swivel Deluxe such a great choice when it comes to jogging strollers!

The frame of this stroller is made of lightweight aluminum and only weighs 22 pounds.  It folds very compactly making it easy to tote around.  Tiffany drives a Ford F-150 and she has no problem lifting it in and out of the truck bed.  She also mentioned that when pushing her children in it she couldn’t tell any weight difference between the weight of her 28 and 38 pound kids.  IMG_2188

Since the stroller rolls so easily – which is a very good thing – it’s important to always have the safety strap attached to your wrist and also to utilize the rear wheel brakes when you have stopped for any reason.  It also handles bumps with ease and doesn’t jar the little ones around.

Tiffany also really liked the reclining seat and the adjustable sun/rain hood.  Her youngest fell asleep in the stroller numerous times – most likely due to the very comfy fully padded seat – and she was kept in the shade the entire time.  Oh and the adjustable handle bar which can be adjusted from 34” to 45” making this the perfect stroller for couples of different heights to use as well.

There are also lots of storage spaces on this stroller…IMG_2189IMG_2190
The top pocket is a perfect fit for Tiffany’s IPOD and easily allows her ear buds to reach her ears.  She mentioned that the bottom storage basket would be much more useful if attached in a different way – perhaps buckles instead of velcro?  As it is now it tends to come undone when she folds the stroller down or any time weight is applied near the corners of the basket.

A few other features include the bell to alert others when you come up from behind them while jogging.  And also the front wheel locking option.  For safety reasons it is important to make sure the front wheel is locked while walking fast or jogging to avoid tipping the stroller over.  Since Tiffany had never used a jogging stroller before she said it was a bit difficult to get used to maneuvering around bends and turns at the park and I can see how it would take some practice to get used to using something different.

Check Tiffany and Kenzie out hitting the park for a jog!  Doesn’t Kenzie look super comfy tucked in there?

One other suggestion Tiffany had was tIMG_2470o make the beige color fabric on the stroller a different color because after just one use you could see dirt marks on it and so a darker color would probably work better especially since the fabric is not easily removable to wash on a frequent basis.IMG_2464

So if you are in the market for a jogging stroller than I highly suggest checking out the Kelty Speedster Swivel Deluxe!  And if you are in need of a double jogging stroller Kelty also has you covered with their Speedster Swivel Deuce.  Be sure to check out the Kelty website for all your other outdoor needs whether it be camping, hiking, or anything else that gets you out and about!  Oh and guess what?  One lucky Happenings of the Harper Household reader will win a Kelty Speedster Swivel Deluxe.  To enter fill out the Rafflecopter entry form below – good luck!
