Every time I have posted a lil sneak peek at Willow’s nursery I always get comments asking when the entire room reveal will take place. Well I have an answer…… NOW! As most of you know I decided to decorate the nursery in a squirrel and acorn theme with pinks and browns which proved to be a lil more difficult than I had originally anticipated. And so here we go.
First I’ll start of with the crib area. I chose this crib because I love the curved edges which remind me of tree branches. I am sure you remember the Wonder Bumpers review – LOVE those! The framed letters were made by me using fabric I found on Etsy and had shipped all the way from South Korea. The wooden squirrel cut outs were also an awesome Etsy find from Urban Apple. I was lucky enough to stumble across the mobile that matches the fabric perfect on Ebay for just a few dollars. And on the canvas is a picture taken by Laura Shankel Photography and printed by Easy Canvas Prints which I am hosting a giveaway for now.
Moving to the right is the breastfeeding nook. That super comfy rocker was a Craigslist find for $75! I purchased the valances online, but they were plain brown…. and so I went to a local fabric store to choose fabrics that complemented my acorn/polka dot fabric from South Korea and found a lady that lived rather close to me who could do embroidered appliques. She did an awesome job adding all of the squirrels and acorns to the curtains. I absolutely adore them. The floating shelves were purchased at Home Depot. I then filled them up with lots of trinkets. The little squirrels and acorn were Ebay finds that I then spray painted to make them look like new again. The letters were from a local craft store that I also painted and the brown squirrel I painted at a local pottery studio on a “date” with my oldest. Oh and that hanging acorn – I made that too! With some help from a video tutorial I found on the Martha Stewart website. I also covered the lamp shade of the table lamp on the little end table with the acorn/polka dot fabric.
And if you turn a bit more to the right is the diaper storage and changing table area. Instead of a typical changing table I opted for a dresser with a changing pad on top since this would grow with Willow instead of only being useful for a few months. The hanging canvas bins on the wooden racks reminded me of a ladder up to a tree house. The totes sitting on the dresser and canvas bin shelving unit are from Thirty-One and match the acorn/polka dot fabric nicely. Plus how absolutely adorable is that squirrel onesie?
And that is Willow’s nursery…. what do you think? There is still an area rug on the way that will go on the floor in front of the crib and I am thinking about making another hanging acorn with a pink bottom and brown top that would hang near the changing area. But other than that it is done for now. Do you think I pulled off the squirrel/acorn theme? Let me know!!
