Two weekends ago Dustin, Alleigh, Kaelyn, Willow, and I all piled in the car and headed down to Clendening Lake where we were invited to spend the night in a cabin with Dustin’s siblings and their familes. There were quite a few of us…. my brother-in-law Andrew, his fiancé Lea, their dog Sidney, my sister-in-law Tiffany, her husband Justin, their kiddos Cash and Mackenzie, and their dog Toby. Add in our family of five and that meant 6 adults, 5 kids, and 2 dogs! When we arrived at the lake I quickly realized that I had absolutely no cell phone service and was a little annoyed, but soon realized it was a great feeling to detach from technology and just enjoy the peacefulness of the lake and the time with my family.
That evening Justin took us out on their fishing boat on a drive around the lake. It was gorgeous. Alleigh and Kaelyn both thought it was awesome when Uncle Justin let them “drive” the boat. And Willow looked like a little Buddha baby in her life jacket.
When we got back from our cruise around the lake all the kiddos had fun running around and playing while the grown ups cooked dinner…. well I fed Willow while the rest of the grown ups cooked dinner, hehe. It was awesome for all of us to sit down around a huge table and just enjoy being together. A little after dinner the kiddos got ready for bed and climbed into their bunk beds where they fell fast asleep. Then it was time to play euchre!
The next day we rented a pontoon boat so that we could all go out on the lake together – dogs included! Cash taught Alleigh how to cast his little fishing pole and they had a blast fishing together. She is now adamant that she needs her very own fishing pole… I don’t see a problem with it, hehe.
I am so glad we got to spend a technology free weekend with Dustin’s siblings, their significant others, kiddos, and fur babies. It was a much needed de-stressing time and I definitely came home feeling refreshed. I feel so blessed to have married into such a loving wonderful family.

Looks like you guys had a fun trip! We’re a big boating family too!
Ok, it would be hard to be technology free for a whole weekend, but it looks like you guys had a great time! What a fun way to spend a weekend with family!
Looks like a blast! We could use a technology-free weekend
Looks like a wonderful time! I think it was a blessing that you didn’t have cell service. Too often I find myself on my phone or computer when I could be enjoying relaxing moments.
Sounds like my kind of weekend!! Okay, so I’ve been wondering since I saw these pics on FB…. What is that in the fire pit that y’all cooked for dinner?
We love going out on the boat just for a ride every now and then. Oh, and I definately say Alleigh needs her own fishing pole
I had my first one by her age.
Looks like a lot of fun! Love the pictures of the little ones and the lake is gorgeous!!!
You look like you had loads of fun!
I especially love the teenie tiny lifejacket!
You can get her a pole at Walmart…pretty sure they are around or under $20. The boys still have their small ones out in the barn! The grandkids use them in the pond when they come over….I don’t think there are any fish left in the pond though! LOL! Looks like you had great fun! It’s good to get away now and again!
I love family outings. It looks like you had a really great time!
Looks like you all had a great time!!! Little Willow looks so cute in her little life vest!!
