I loved writing my pregnancy journal updates so much each week that I have decided to continue by writing weekly Willow updates…. a big thank you to one of my awesome readers – Beth Rees – for giving me the lil nudge I needed to start this new weekly post.
And so each Saturday I will be writing a post to share with everyone how Willow is growing and changing through out the year. Since I decided to do this today my first post is going to include weeks one and two.

WHAT WILLOW’S DAYS & NIGHTS ARE LIKE…
Sleeping: Right now Willow is sleeping roughly twenty hours a day… maybe even a little more than that. At night time she wakes up some time between
3-4am to nurse then almost immediately falls back asleep til 8-9am. We are currently swaddling from the arms down with aden+anais muslin swaddling blankets – baby girl likes to have her arms free. And she is most content sleeping in her Fisher-Price Newborn Rock n Play Sleeper.
Eating: Willow has been nursing like a champ from the first time she latched on. It broke my heart in the operating room watching Dustin hold her while the doctors stitched me back together because she kept sticking her little tongue out and trying to root against him. But as soon as she was in my arms in recovery she immediately latched on and nursed for a good thirty minutes. She goes roughly four hours between nursing sessions, but when she eats she REALLY eats. I love listening to and watching her nurse… can’t help but adore those milk drunk expressions when she falls asleep. My body is still adjusting to the longer amount of time between when she eats compared to Alleigh and Kaelyn who were every hour and a half to two hour nursers. However, I do love that I get lots more sleep this way… just feel quite full all the time, hehe. Oh I am also learning foods to avoid that make her a bit gassy and uncomfortable – pizza is at the top of that list. She can let out some loud burps, but so far not even one spit up.
Diapers: At the moment we are still using Pampers Newborn Swaddlers because Willow’s umbilical cord is still hanging on and all of the newborn cloth diapers I have seem to go up to high even if they have the umbilical cord snap on them. Can’t wait to switch to cloth though… hopefully only a few more days.
Big Sister Thoughts: Alleigh and Kaelyn literally smother Willow in love. They always need to kiss her, hold her, hug her. Kaelyn made me laugh when she was watching me nurse and asked “She eat your booby??” After I explained that there was milk inside and she was drinking the milk she pulled up her shirt and said “Willow eat my booby??” Oh boy… that was an interesting conversation, hehe.
Places She Went: Willow attended her first Great Trail Festival, East Canton Football Game, and Stark County Fair…. though she slept through almost everything.
Other Random Stuff: Willow enjoys being worn and sleeping the whole time….. her favorite carrier seems to be the Boba Wrap. Oh and everywhere we go I get stopped constantly by people telling me how cute my lil munchkin is and commenting on her crazy hair that likes to stand straight up.
