It’s Saturday and that means it’s time for the weekly Willow update!  I enjoyed writing my pregnancy journal and sharing my journey with everyone so much that I have decided to continue by writing about Willow’s first year.  And so each week I will be sharing how my baby girl is growing and changing plus lots of pictures!

PICTURES FROM WILLOW’S 3rd WEEK

WHAT WILLOW’S DAYS & NIGHTS ARE LIKE…

Sleeping:  This week we had a couple rough nights…. but we can blame that on mama.  I am still learning what foods upset Willow’s stomach and make her gassy.  And so the nights that she was up a lot were evenings that I ate something that I obviously will not be eating again… well as long as she is breastfeeding.  One of the nights she was up from roughly 2am til 5am, oyyy.  She is still sleeping almost all the time, but is having a little longer waking periods during the day when she is very alert and looking around and beginning to make eye contact.  And she must be swaddled in her aden+anais muslin swaddles to sleep and placed in her Fisher-Price Rock n Play Sleeper other wise she wakes up almost immediately

Eating:  Still nursing great…. and this week we mastered the side-lying nursing position which is awesome for those nights that Willow is wanting to eat all night, but momma just wants to lay down.  Baby girl still hasn’t had a single spit up which makes me super happy though she can burp as loud as a full grown man, hehe.

Diapers:  I was waiting until Willow’s umbilical cord fell off to switch to our cloth diapers and on Sunday (9/2/12) it fell off!  I was at my parents house and went to change her diaper when I realized it was gone.  Naturally I freaked out because I have kept both Alleigh and Kaelyn’s umbilical cords and it was no where to be found.  I knew it was on her when we left our house because I changed her diaper and immediately put her in the car seat.  And so my mom started helping me look for it.  She found it right beside the couch blending in to their dark brownish colored carpet – phew!  And so now Willow is rockin her newborn prefolds and covers that my friend, Jessica Hilton, sewed for me.  They are so stinkin cute and fit great!

Big Sister Thoughts:  Before Willow’s umbilical cord fell off I was explaining to Alleigh that this is how her sister was connected to mommy and received nourishment to grow while inside my tummy.  I told her that she had one when she was little that fell off too.  And then I said that I even had one when I was a baby to which she replied “Noooo you weren’t a baby!” Cracks me up that it’s hard for little ones to ever imagine their parents as babies, hehe.

Places She Went:  Labor Day Cook Out at Aunt Tiffany & Uncle Justin’s

Other Random Stuff:  Willow enjoys being outside and was super content to relax in her Joovy playard the other day.  She is still loving being worn in the Boba Wrap and slept through our grocery shopping trip the other day.  She also is a fan of the vacuum cleaner.  If she is fussing and you turn the Dyson on she almost immediately closes her eyes and drifts to sleep.
