Help Support the Book by Book Campaign {Plus $25 Barnes & Noble Gift Card Giveaway}

I have always loved reading and so I wanted to try my best to pass that love on to my children.  I figured the best way to accomplish this would be to have tons of books at their reach from a very early age and so on Alleigh’s first birthday I asked everyone to sign a book for her instead of a card.  This was an awesome way to instantly grow her little library and we still read many of those  books today!  And it seems that I was on the right track with wanting my kiddos to have books available to them because research has shown that a child’s access to reading materials is one of the strongest predictors of their ability to succeed academically.  But on that same note roughly 60% of children in low-income families have no books in their homes.  And that is why I was happy to hear Capital One had partnered with The Heart of America Foundation to change that statistic with their campaign Book by Book.

Book by Book

Since 2001 the partnership between Capital One and The Heart of America Foundation has done some pretty amazing things including donating more than 1 million books to nearly 500,000 children in America.  Plus thousands of Capital One associates have volunteered their time to read to children and help renovate school libraries in low-income communities.  Now they need your help and all you have to do is click your computer mouse a few times.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
The Book by Book campaign will run from October 15th – November 15th 2012 and during that time book lovers everywhere can help decide which titles will be donated to local students and schools by voting for their favorites on the Book by Book web site.  Plus for every “like” Capital One receives on its Investing for Good Facebook page during the campaign, Capital One will donate a book to a child or library in need – up to 50,000 books.

How simple is that?  So get a move on and vote for your favorite book and like a Facebook page to put books in the hands of kiddos in need.  And once you’re done come back here and enter the giveaway below to put some new books in the hands of kids in your home.  Enter by filling out the Rafflecopter entry form below!
