It’s such a bummer when kids out grow toys within a few months – especially toys that were rather pricey. I much prefer toys that will grow with my child so we can get many years of use out of them. Kaelyn has become Alleigh’s mini me lately and wants to do everything she does, but the problem comes when she just can’t physically do some of these things yet like ride a tricycle which leads to frustration. And so I was so excited to find a tricycle that would allow her to ride along beside her sister minus the temper tantrums of frustration.
And that tricycle is the Joovy Tricycoo which can be used with children as young as 18 months through 44 pounds. I love the concept of this product because younger children do not have to steer, pedal or balance on their own. Instead the can enjoy the ride while an adult pushes the removable parent push handle that overrides the steering on the Tricycoo. The handle has 4-positions and is adjustable from 32.5 to 38 inches high making it comfortable for mom or dad to use. In addition to the push bar overriding the steering the front wheel can be unlocked so that the pedals turn freely. This way the younger child can have their feet on the pedal safely because they will not be turning as the wheel turns. Plus if the child does not want their feet on the pedals they also have the option of using the moveable foot rests. I also really like the removable baby surround arms which keeps young children safely on the seat alleviating worry of them trying to get off while the Tricycoo is in motion. Kaelyn had a great time with Aunt Courtney pushing her around on a warm fall day.
Then when Alleigh wants a turn we simply unsnap the removable baby surround arms, adjust the foot rests so they are out of the way, lock the front wheel, unscrew the push handle – and now it’s ready for bigger kiddos. Alleigh is still well within the weight limit at 36 pounds since the Tricycoo can be used up to 44 pounds, but now at 4 and a half years old she is just about too tall. Though that’s not stopping her from zooming everywhere, hehe.
Plus there are a few more features I want to mention. The Tricycoo has injection-molded wheels with urethane treads which are relatively quiet on most floors – the girls like riding around inside the house so the quieter the better. The seat has a nice little padded cushion so even on longer walks you won’t be hearing about their little behinds hurting, hehe. Now that whole quiet thing goes out the window with the bell – but if it drives you too crazy it could be removed for when riding indoors. And the girls favorite feature is probably the basket which they load up with all sorts of things to haul around. Oh and it is available in a variety of colors including black, green, orange, and pink.
This is definitely a toy that your little one will get many years of use out of and can make life easier for mom too. Especially moms (and dads) that like to go on walks but their kiddo just doesn’t want to be strapped in a stroller for any length of time. With the Tricycoo they can enjoy the walk too and you won’t hear any complaints! It’s a win-win for everyone. I highly suggest checking this out with the holidays right around the corner – it just may be your little one’s favorite present this year. I know my girls love it!
