There aren’t many things that I can truly say I hate, but I absolutely can not stand cold sores – blisters that form on or around the lips and are usually caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus .  I would go so far as to say I despise them.  I loathe them.  But unfortunately I’m one of the 80 million Americans that suffer through the pain of them.  I’ve been dealing with them for a long time and have finally been able to figure out my triggers that will inevitably lead to a cold sore outbreak with the biggest being stress, fevers, and prolonged sun exposure.  Many people are effected by these same triggers as well as fatigue, cold weather, hormones, trauma, colds, or flu.

I have decided to be brave and post a picture of myself with one of those nasty cold sores around the scabbing stage.  The Cold Sorereason I am sharing this picture is to give an example of how stress triggers cold sores for me.  As you can tell from the picture we are at the hospital and my oldest, Alleigh, who was a few months shy of turning one was having a minor oral surgery.  Surgery is always stressful no matter how “minor” it may be and when it is your child that increases the stress level exponentially.  Thankfully all went well and there was no reason to get so worked up and stressed out, but nonetheless I did and had to deal with a cold sore on top of everything else.

I know this post has seemed like all doom and gloom, but I promise it’s going Abrevato get better.  There is a way to fight back against cold sores by shortening healing time and that is with Abreva – the only over-the-counter medication approved by the FDA that is proven to shorten the healing time of a cold sore.  This cold sore treatment works by penetrating deep to the root of your cold sore to heal it fast and helps to block the spread of the virus to healthy cells.  So the next time you feel that first sign of a tingle, redness, bump or itch appear apply Abreva directly to the location then continue to do so five times a day until the cold sore is healed for a maximum of ten days.  From my personal experience if I apply Abreva once I get that first tingling sensation my cold sore is healed within days compared to weeks like I used to suffer through plus it also helps to numb the pain away too.  I’ll be the first to admit that Abreva is a bit pricey – but a little bit goes a long way and one small tube will last through many outbreaks.  The next time you get a cold sore give Abreva a try – you have nothing to lose because if you aren’t completely satisfied with Abreva for any reason just save your receipt, remaining product, and call 1-877-709-3539 to get your money back.  Doesn’t get more risk-free than that!

So take it from Mama Harper – the next time you get a cold sore heal it fast with Abreva.  And to perk this post up a little bit more how about a giveaway for a $25 Amazon Gift Code?  You could even use it to buy Abreva!  Enter using the Rafflecopter form below – good luck.
