When it comes to baby gear having a bouncer that will actually entertain your little one is crucial.  There are times when I need to sit Willow down {though I would prefer to hold her all day} while I do laundry, wash dishes, or even just use the bathroom! Hehe.  During those times I want something that will spark her interest so she stays happy instead of fussing the whole time because she just wants mama to pick her back up.  The vast majority of bouncers are all the same… a seat that vibrates and a toy bar… and not very interesting.  And then I found a bouncer completely different from any I had every seen before at Mamas & Papas.

There are two movement options with three speed settings to choose from to help soothe your little one – vibration or gentle bounce.  Yes, a bouncer that actually bounces by itself.  So many bouncers we have used only vibrate and if I wanted them to bounce before baby was big enough to kick and get them moving themselves I would have to sit and bounce it completely defeating the purpose of entertaining baby while I got things accomplished around the house.  Now this isn’t a crazy big bounce – instead it is a gentle bounce that imitates mom’s heart beat and Willow seems to really enjoy it.  Between the two buttons that activate the vibration or bounce is a button with a little foot on it.  This button turns on the removable kick pad which activates sounds and soft light bursts when kicked which encourages baby to kick more.  I especially love this feature because it allows a young baby to interact with the bouncer before they can reach the toy bar.

Speaking of the toy bar…. it is adjustable so it can be moved to keep the toys within babies reach and at it’s lowest setting I have discovered that Willow can actually kick the toys to activate the sounds too.  The speakers are also located in the toy bar so that baby can actually hear the fun sounds – every other bouncer I have used the speaker is near their feet which makes absolutely no sense at all.  And the part that Willow enjoys best is the light show!  Along the toy bar is a series of different colored dots that light up in different patterns and speeds along with the music… Willow could watch that forever.

So what makes all these fun sounds and light shows possible?  The MAGIC cards!  Each MAGIC set comes with one card and three toys which can be used on all of the MAGIC products which include bouncers, playmat & gym, and crib mobile activity center.  Plus there are many sets to choose from including Musical Fun, Jingly Jungle, Mini Explorers, Play Time Farm, and Play, Sleep, Relax.  The MAGIC products are even MP3 compatible so parents can play their own music, rhymes, or stories while the light show is provided by Mamas & Papas.  This means you can change what baby is hearing and seeing so it’s always fresh and fun – I wouldn’t want to sit and stare at the same toys and hear the same songs constantly, would you? 

The MAGIC cards are inserted into a slot on each MAGIC product and that is where my only “room for improvement” idea comes in to play.  The cards are rather difficult to insert and remove so it requires quite a bit of force leaving me afraid I might actually break the card.  I also wish that I could leave the card in and turn the sound off, as it is now the card must be removed to completely turn the sound off.  Other than that they are awesome.

As you can see Willow definitely loves her Mamas & Papas MAGIC Astro Bouncer and it keeps her entertained long enough for me to get things accomplished around the house which makes this mama super happy.
