I am a huge advocate for baby wearing and my favorite baby carrier by far is my Boba Carrier 3G. I use it when going for walks, grocery shopping, attending events like Disney on Ice – basically any time that I want my little one close to me but also need two hands free. And with a two and four year old that is literally all the time.
Over the past few years that I have been baby wearing I have learned this… good baby carriers that properly support baby and are comfortable for both mom and baby for extended periods of time are not cheap – though they are well worth the money. So when I spend a significant chunk of change on something I want to make sure I take proper care of it so I can get the most use out of it as possible. It’s common knowledge that when a piece of fabric is washed over and over again the integrity of that fabric is going to begin to wear and it will not last forever. It’s also common knowledge that babies spit up, chew, and drool over almost anything that comes in their path. Put those two statements together and most moms would find themselves feeling conflicted on what to do to keep their baby carrier clean yet prolong it’s life.
Luckily Boba has the answer with their line of carrier accessories. I was very excited to receive a stuff sack and set of teething pads to try out.
Willow has been drooling all over the place and chewing on everything that comes in contact with her for the past few months and that includes my Boba Carrier 3G. In most cases the area that she can reach to gnaw on is the straps of the carrier and that is why I love the teething pads so much. They are made of 100% organic cotton and are completely free of chemicals and dyes. Simply snap the pads around the straps of the carrier and baby can chew away with no worries. I even like the little Boba tag on them because almost every baby loves playing with tags which makes the teething pads even more intriguing to little ones. Once your little one has chewed all over the teething pads just unsnap them and toss them in the wash for next time. This will greatly decrease the amount of times the actual carrier will need to be washed therefore prolonging the life of the carrier.
So with the teething pads you have successfully kept the carrier clean while wearing baby, but what about when you take it off? I know I typically keep my carrier in the cargo area of my Ford Escape so it’s always there when we are out and about, but it can get kinda gross back there with stroller wheels touching the carpeting and hauling different things around. That is why the stuff sack is so handy. Simply roll the carrier up, stuff inside, and pull the drawstring. Plus there is even a convenient handle for carrying that would slip on a stroller handle easily or could even be hung from one of the hooks in the car to keep it off the ground. Oh and they have a stuff sack to match every carrier – how awesome is that? Now instead of worrying about the actual baby carrier getting dirty the stuff sack will be the only thing that needs washed further prolonging the life of the carrier!
And so if you love baby wearing as much as I do and want to protect your Boba Carrier 3G to get as much life out of it as possible then I highly suggest checking out the stuff sack and teething pads. I’d even suggest investing in two pairs of teething pads so that one is always on hand even when the other is in the wash especially if you baby wear a lot like I do with Willow.
