This past weekend our family had the pleasure of visiting Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park in Sandusky, Ohio.  It was a dreary, cold, and rainy day outside when we arrived, but inside the forecast was a constant 82 degrees – perfect pool weather.  The girls were super excited when we pulled into the parking lot and they saw the water slides coming out of the building.  Then when we walked into the tropical themed resort we came face to face with a huge pirate ship complete with talking parrots which the girls loved.

After checking into our roomCastaway Bay Indoor Water Park and getting our swimming suits on we headed down to the 38,000-square-foot indoor waterpark which had age appropriate activities for everyone in our group.  The last time we visited Castaway Bay I was pregnant with Willow which meant I didn’t get to try out any water slides so I definitely made up for that this time.  Dustin and I had a blast on Rendezvous Run – a 35-foot-high, 520-foot-long water roller coaster that propels riders uphill using water jets.  I also loved the Tropical Tube Slides which were super fast and can be seen in the above picture.

The Toddler’s Tide Pool was Alleigh, Kaelyn, and Willow’s favorite place to hang out and was loaded with fun activities including a tandem slide, water pipes, spraying gadgets and sea creature play structures.  Alleigh is my timid kiddo, but after being coaxed down the tandem slide once that’s all she wanted to do!  While Kaelyn and Willow preferred the small water fountains.

Alleigh and Kaelyn also headed into the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse with Dustin which is a gigantic multi-story interactive play area with more than 100 different elements.  It also includes a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket that drenches guests every two minutes with a downpour of water.

And that’s not all. The water park also has two fifty person whirlpool spas, a wave pool, cargo crossing, and creature cove.  Alleigh had a huge break through in Creature Cove when she realized she could swim without holding on to mom or dad while wearing a life jacket.  She loved that!

After swimming we headed back to the room to get ready for the blogger event.  We were treated to delicious pizza, salad, and beverages with a great view over the marina.  After our tummies were full the girls got to participate in some fun children’s activities that are available on a daily basis at the resort like decorating cookies and coloring beach towels.  Then we even got to meet Snoopy!  Willow tried to eat his nose, hehe.

I think (honestly) the best part would be the whole experience!!! We don’t get to do a lot of fun family trips like this, having 5 kids limits both what we can do and want to do. Castaway bay appeals to me because I have kids who are 1,2,3,9 & 12 so everyone could have fun…. Even me!!!!!

  7. I think spend time in the water would be the best part my kids love playing in the water 🙂

I’ve always thought this was for bigger kids. Nice to know it is good for young ones too.
