My girls absolutely love to go swimming, but at two and four years old massive indoor water parks just aren’t quite their speed.  And so I went in search of a hotel with a pool area that was more like a mini waterpark more suited towards families with younger kiddos.  I found just what I was looking for at the Comfort Inn Splash Harbor in Bellville, Ohio.  About two weeks ago Dustin, the girls, my sister, and I enjoyed an evening there.

After checking in at the front desk we headed to our adjoining rooms.  The rooms were very clean and modern.  Dustin was pleased to see that the room had a flat screen television with complementary HBO and full cable including the Speed channel.  I was excited to see a mini fridge and microwave.  So many times we go out to dinner and the girls don’t finish their food, but there is no point in bringing it back to the hotel – but not this time!  I had also packed some bags of popcorn in hopes there would be a microwave so that was a huge plus as well.  The window in our room had a view of the pool area so as soon as the girls realized that we were in our suits and on our way.

The 6,000 square foot pool area was awesome and had activities that everyone in our group could enjoy.

We spent a lot of time hanging out in the shallow kiddie pool area that ranged from 6 inches to 14 inches deep.  Willow enjoyed sitting on our laps and splashing about.  A small slide or other activity would be a nice addition to the kiddie pool area, but Alleigh and Kaelyn had fun regardless.

The larger pool ranged from 3 feet to 4.5 feet deep and had lots of fun activities including two basketball hoops, a floating raft, and 49’ looping water slide.  All of the girls including Willow thought it was fun to sit on the floating raft – of course with an adult right beside the raft at all time.  It took some coaxing to get Alleigh to try out the water slide, but once she did that’s all she wanted to do.  I even went down it a few times and it was a lot of fun!

The sprayground was full of fun water features including dumping buckets and spraying geysers. The water in that area was a bit colder than the water in the pools, but I suppose that’s because it is circulating constantly.

Kaelyn’s favorite part by far had to be the family hot tub which was more like a nice warm bath with relaxing jets.  She spent a lot of time sitting and splashing about in there as did the rest of us.

There was also a hot tub for guests 18 and over that was much hotter.

All that swimming definitely wore the girls out and we all slept very well that night.  I didn’t go to sleep until working on the blog some thanks to the free wireless internet access.  Once I was able to go to sleep I realized the bed was super comfy – wish I coulda brought one home with me, hehe.  The next morning we enjoyed a free continental breakfast that had a huge variety including fruit, yogurt, waffles, cereal, donuts, and lots more.  Once everyone was filled up we headed back to the room to get everything organized and check out.  Even though we were checked out of the room we were still able to enjoy the pool – in fact you can even purchase day passes to use the facility – and so we headed back to take the girls swimming one last time.  Inside the pool area there are lockers to hold your personal items and the restrooms have changing areas as well.

Some other features of the Comfort Inn Splash Harbor include a video game room with pool table, air hockey, and more.  Fitness center and bicycle rental for a 20 mile bike path adjacent to the hotel.  There are also three fast food and three sit down restaurants very close to the hotel including a diner inside a train and an Amish restaurant.  Oh and there is a miniature golf and ice cream stand near by as well as the Deer Ridge championship golf course.  So as you can see there is definitely something for the whole family to enjoy during your stay at the Comfort Inn Splash Harbor in Bellville, Ohio.

And guess what!  One of my lucky readers family is going to enjoy a night at the hotel as well.  This giveaway will be for a Sunday-Thursday overnight stay in a non-smoking double queen room at the Comfort Inn Splash Harbor which includes four pool passes.  To enter fill out the form below.  Good luck!

I really like the small kiddie pool. It’s simple, but he’s a young guy who still gets a kick just out of splishing and splashing about!
