When I was a little girl my favorite doll was a bald Cabbage Patch Kid that I fondly called Charlie Brown.  He wore little brown overalls and I took him everywhere with me.  At some point he got lost during my childhood, but I never forgot about Charlie and how much fun we had together.  I truly believe every little girl (and boys too) should have their very own Cabbage Patch Kid and so I was very excited when two arrived on our doorstep for my girls.  I admit at first I was overly excited because it was like taking a step back in to my own childhood, but very quickly I saw that same bond I had with Charlie emerge between Kaelyn and her new buddy – Karina.  It’s so crazy to think that Cabbage Patch Kids are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year!  JAKKs Pacific is celebrating with a focus on back-to-basics play with cuddly, soft, and realistic Cabbage Patch Kids Fun to Feed Babies!

I admit when I shared the legend of the Cabbage Patch Kids with my girls they looked at me like I was a little 20120802_CPK_Animation_w-Bannercrazy…. and who can blame them?  The story is rather out there, but so fun at the same time.  If you’ve never read  the entire legend I highly suggest taking a few minutes to do so, but in a nut shell Bunnybees fly all around a secret cabbage patch sprinkling magic crystal dust on the mother cabbages which causes the Cabbage Patch Kids to be born.  Once born all of the Cabbage Patch Kids and Babies are taken to BabyLand General where they can live and play until someone adopts them and takes them home.  And that is where I hooked Alleigh and Kaelyn in.  They were so excited to formally adopt their very own Cabbage Patch Kid by repeating the “Oath of Adoption” out loud and signing the adoption papers.  And in doing so we happily welcomed the Fun to Feed Babies, Belle Dakota and Karina Hailey, into our family.

Each Fun to Feed Baby measures 12.5”long and includes either a magic disappearing milk bottle or food bowl with spoon, removable clothing, and of course their adoption papers and birth certificate.  As soon as you open the packaging the fresh scent of Cabbage Patch Kid will hit your nose and even after playing with their babies daily for the past few months Karina and Dakota still smell oh so fresh!  With so many different outfits, silky hair colors, eye colors, ethnicities, and names each Cabbage Patch Kid is truly unique.

Willow loves playing with her big sisters Fun to Feed Babies.  Though when we first gave her the bottle it was funny to watch her look at it and then just hold it.  I quickly realized that Willow hasn’t really seen any bottles… she never used one and hasn’t seen many babies use one either. Once we showed her what to do with it she had a wonderful time feeding her baby.

Kaelyn adopted Karina and she takes her everywhere.  Karina is always in the car with us no matter where we are going.  At the park she accompanies Kaelyn down the slide, on the swings, through the tunnels….and occasionally Kaelyn will take a break to give hungry Karina her bottle, hehe.

I thoroughly enjoy watching all three of my girls play and nurture their Cabbage Patch Babies and slipping back into my childhood to remember Charlie and all the fun we had together.  If you would like to give your child the same fond memories of a Cabbage Patch Kid you can check out the JAKKs Pacific and Cabbage Patch Kids websites.

I had a cabbage patch doll when I was a kid, and I loved her. Her hair was made of yarn. I loved how she came with her own birth certificate and story. These are super adorable and cabbage patch kids have come such a long way over the years.
