No one hops into their car thinking “today is the day I’m going to get in a car accident” but the fact of the matter is crashes happen every single day. That is why it is so important that we make sure our smallest passengers are as safe as they can possibly be by making sure they are properly buckled into a car seat with top of the line safety features. Unfortunately not all car seats are created equal when it comes to protecting our precious cargo and there are so many options out there that it can be a daunting task to choose the right one. And that is why today I am so excited to share with my readers a car seat that not only meets, but far exceeds federal standards. The Britax Boulevard 70-G3 with safety you can see.

Britax holds themselves to very high testing and safety standards because they care about your child just as much as you do. Each of their seats are loaded with safety features that divert crash forces away from your child to minimize movement and keep them safely in place. Plus Britax is the leader in pioneering side impact technologies which is very important considering one in four of all motor vehicle crashes that involve children occur from the side. With such a high statistic it is hard to believe that the United States doesn’t have federal regulatory standards for testing side impact protection on car seats and so Britax has created a rigorous testing regime that simulates side impact crashes based on proven European test methods. These tests evaluate how well they contain the head and minimize head, chest, and pelvis acceleration. Through their test crash simulators Britax is able to prove their best-in-class safety features far exceed federal standards.

All Britax convertible car seats including the Boulevard 70-G3 have more safety features than any other brand. But the best part is all of those amazing safety features are visible because how can you truly trust something if you can’t see it?

BritaxSafetyFeatures

SafeCell Technology Base: In a car accident the forward rotation of a car seat usually propels the child toward the front seat, but SafeCells counteract this by compressing and significantly lowering the center of gravity. An added bonus of this base is that it grips and protects the vehicle seat while fitting great – even on our slick leather seats.

Integrated Steel Bars & Premium Lower LATCH Connectors: Combined these two features strengthen the car seats connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the seat during a crash. The LATCH connectors also make installation a breeze featuring a red push button for easy release.

True Side Impact Protection: All Britax convertible car seats feature a rigid shell with deep side walls lined with energy-absorbing foam providing, but the Boulevard 70-G3 also includes a second layer of protection with an energy absorbing head restraint that keeps the head, neck, and spine aligned. It also does a great job keeping little heads up when they fall asleep in the car which is always.

HUGS Chest Pads: The same SafeCell Technology found in the Boulevard 70-G3’s base can also be found in the chest pads which are affixed to the seat shell to ensure proper positioning. These chest pads also help to keep the five point harness tangle free distributing crash forces across the strongest parts of the body providing a secure fit and keeping the chest clip on the chest. In an accident the SafeCells will compress to manage energy and reduce forward movement which will reduce the risk of head injury. Another scary statistic – head injury is the leading cause of vehicle-crash related deaths for children up to 12 years.

Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether: A car seat can have a million safety features, but if not installed correctly it’s really all for nothing. That is why the Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether is so important. Unlike other car seats the Britax tether is attached at two points on the upper part of the child seat and can be used in both the rear-facing and forward-facing positions. There is a hook on this tether that connects to an anchor point in your vehicle.

In the rear facing position if there is not an anchor point you can use the included Rear Facing Tether Connector Strap. Simply loop it onto a metal piece of the car which is bolted to the floor then hook the tether to the D-Ring.

The benefit to using the Energy Absorbing Versa-Tether is huge. First of all I can tell you that the seat just overall feels much more secure. Without the tether when properly installed the car seat would still move a bit, but stayed within the one inch movement guideline. However with the Versa-Tether in use the seat does not budge. During an accident it diverts crash forces away from your child which helps to slow down their body and minimizes their movement – specifically their head movement which can be reduced by 4 to 6 inches therefore minimizing the risk of injury. Plus the V shape of the Versa-Tether means that there is more strap (webbing) to absorb the crash forces than a standard tether with one attachment point.

I absolutely love that this car seat will work for the long haul. It can accommodate a child from 5 to 70 pounds and 49 inches tall.

Since all three of my children can fit in this car seat I like that the Quick-Adjust allows me to reposition the harness shoulder height without disassembling the harness or uninstalling the seat so it can be easily switched depending on who is riding in the car at any given time. This feature also makes this a great car seat for baby sitters or grandparents who may have many different children riding in their vehicle.

Even better is the fact that the Boulevard 70-G3 is built for extended rear facing up to 40 pounds and 49 inches. This means that even my five year old is able to rear face in this seat! How amazing is that?

I truly can not say enough good things about the Britax Boulevard 70-G3. I feel completely at ease knowing my child is comfortable and being able to see with my own eyes that they are truly safe which is a feeling that every parent deserves including YOU!

I always look for the ability of the car seat to be reclined at the correct angle when rear facing (our car seats are funny and not every car seat fits our car correctly).
