If you are anything like me you probably find yourself taking adorable pictures of your children, pets, loved ones, or anything you find interesting on a daily basis.  Many times those photos get posted to my blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or messaged to friends.  Something that I rarely do, but really should is print them out so they can be enjoyed more than just through a screen whether it be a smart phone or computer.  All of those pictures can also easily be turned into wonderful Christmas gifts for almost everyone on your list by visiting Shutterfly.

At Shutterfly you can make all sorts of awesome gifts including calendars, ornaments, and photo mugs just to name a few.  However, one of my favorite things to make are the photo books.  There are so many options and sizes available to choose from.  For the book I am currently working on I went with the 12×12 size.  I love the square shape of this option.

In addition to the large selection of sizes available you can also choose to either make your photo book through the custom path, simple path, or photo book for iPad.  The simple path is perfect if you want to get the book made quickly or perhaps you just don’t view yourself as the creative type because the book is created for you.  You simply select the photos and Shutterfly arranges them chronologically into a stylishly designed book with 1 to 4 pictures per page.  There are more than 20 styles to choose from with pre-set backgrounds and layouts.  Plus you can easily edit your pictures and add in short captions.  With the simple path you can create a gorgeous photo book within just a few minutes.

With the custom path you can make your photo book exactly the way you want it.  There are tons of backgrounds and embellishments to choose from.  You can easily add, delete, resize, and move photos as well as text anywhere on the page.  There are hundreds of layouts to choose from or you can completely design your own.  Plus you can put up to 30 photos on one page or do a two page spread of one photo for a big statement.  The possibilities are truly endless with the custom path which is why I love it so much.

In fact I have been working on my own custom path Shutterfly photo book.  Throughout my entire pregnancy and since Willow has been born I have wrote weekly updates on this blog.  I have shared tons of pictures and included things like her sleeping patterns, foods, milestones, and more.  The entire time I was sharing this with my readers I knew I wanted to turn it into a book as well for Willow and that is exactly what I am doing.  I am currently working on a book about her first year.  There will be one page for each week and I am including the text from each blog post as well.  Here is just a sample from weeks three and four…

I will admit that this is going to take me quite a while to complete since I have chosen the custom path and since I will have 52 pages to equal the 52 weeks in her first year.  But the great thing about Shutterfly is you can save your progress so you don’t need to accomplish an entire book in one sitting.  I plan to do two to four pages a night until her book is complete.

Fun Photo Book Gift Ideas:

Brag Book:  Grandparents love sharing pictures of their grandbabies.  Fill up a photo book with pictures from the past year of those little bundles of joy that can never do any wrong in the eyes of their nan & pap, hehe.

ABC Book:  Do you have a kiddo just learning their ABC’s?  How about making a book of photos with each page dedicated to a letter.  The pictures should be of items they recognize from their daily life…. maybe a picture of their own cuddly blankie for the letter “B”.

Special Event:  Create a photo book for a loved one about a special event that occurred in their life.  It could be a wedding, birthday, vacation…

Who Loves {insert child’s name}?:  This book would be full of photos of your child with all the people that love them – mom, dad, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and so on.

Those are just a couple ideas, but there are so many possibilities.  And guess what.  One lucky reader is going to have the chance to make their very own Shutterfly photo book.  To enter fill out the giveaway tools entry form below.  Good luck!

I would take the simple path due to lack of creativity and time 🙂 It would be for my mom.

  2. I would cutomize it, because I am so not a cookie cutter type person. I would love to have this for my father-in-law for Christmas since I got my mom and my mother-in-law one already.

I love making these with the Christmas parties, I make them custom so I can have them just right. I need to make one for my daughter in law she lost her son on 11/2 and he was only 22 and if I win this that is the one I would make. Thanks for the chance to win this.

I like taking the custom path and pulling from all the designs available. I would make one for our family about our trip to Washington state.
