As a stay at home mom to three little ones who also runs this blog I need to stay organized or I would simply lose my mind.  One of the things that drives me absolutely crazy is clutter – especially paper clutter.  And it arrives every single day from the mail man.  For the longest time these papers piled up in what my husband refers to as my “dumping zones” on the counter beside the refrigerator and table that I use to store blog review items.  I didn’t want to just toss these papers in the trash since many have our names, address, phone number, account numbers, and more personal information on them.  That’s just not the best thing to do in a world where so much identity theft happens.  In 2012 there were more than 12 million identity fraud victims!  I do not want to add myself to that statistic and so I have been shredding all those papers with the Fellowes Powershred 63Cb Cross-Cut Shredder.

It wasn’t just enough for me to have a shredder to destroy these papers that I didn’t want getting into the hands of the wrong people and to avoid cluttering my counter space.  I needed a shredder that would do the job fast and efficiently while eliminating any extra steps that a busy mom just doesn’t have time for. The Fellowes Powershred 63Cb is everything I could want in a shredder for household use.

For starters you can shred up to 10 pages in a single pass cutting each piece into 302 particles.  Not only that but you can also shred credit cards, staples, and small paperclips with ease which means time saved because you don’t have to pause to remove those pesky pieces of metal.  There are also no worries of paper jams thank to the Fellowes’ Jam Blocker technology which prevents overfeeding, but if a jam were to happen there is a simple reverse button to clear it right out.  Though I haven’t had that problem yet!  Plus you can shred for up to 8 minutes straight before a 20 minute cool down time is needed and trust me that is a long time… you would have to have a crazy amount of paper clutter to get anywhere near that.

Emptying out the Fellowes Powershred 63Cb is also a cinch.  There is a clear window on the front so you will easily be able to see when the 5 gallon bin is full.  It then simply pulls out for easy emptying.

With three curious little girls roaming about my house I also needed to make sure that this would not pose a safety hazard to my girls and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Fellowes Powershred 63Cb is equipped with SafeSense Technology which stops shredding when hands touch the paper opening.  There is also a power switch on the back of the shredder which I always make sure to turn off when not in use, but ya never know when a little one will discover that switch.  I feel much better knowing that this wonderful safety feature is there.

I love that it can shred 10 pieces of paper at once!! We have the same problem of having papers stay stacked up too. This would make the cleaning process so fast and easy
