I’m just putting this out there.  I hate winter.  Ohio is definitely the wrong state for me.  And this winter has been absolutely brutal so far.  It’s not so much the amount of snow that has fallen, but the frigid temperatures.  One day it was -13° and that wasn’t even including the wind chill.  I am so desperately yearning for sunshine and warmth outside, but right now that is months away.  I was so excited when our family was invited to spend the weekend at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay where it’s always 82° and sunny giving us a much needed break from this horrible winter weather.

Upon entering the hotel at Castaway Bay you are immediately transported to a tropical Caribbean paradise with the greeting of two talkative parrots perched upon a ship wreck in the lobby.  This theme continues into the water park where guests will find lots of palm trees, huts, inland lagoons, and more.

As soon as we arrived the girls were ready to swim.  After settling into our room I got them into their matching {of course} bathing suits and took a short walk down the hallway to the water park entrance.  I absolutely love that Castaway Bay has a huge variety of wet and wild activities so that no matter your age there is sure to be something you will enjoy.

With three little ones five and under their favorite spot was most definitely the toddler’s tide pool which has a zero depth entry and maximum depth of 1’ 6”.  They loved playing in the spraying gadgets, climbing on the sea creature play structures, and sliding down the tandem slide.

We also spent quite a bit of time in the wave pool.  This huge 100,000 gallon pool generates three foot waves which guests can body surf.  The girls loved jumping over the waves as they would crash and Willow especially liked playing in the fountains.

As the girls get older it will be lots of fun to watch them explore other areas of the water park.  My little dare devil Kaelyn already enjoys playing in the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse with her daddy which is a gigantic multi-story interactive play area with more than 100 different elements, including a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket that drenches guests every two minutes with a downpour of water.  Some other areas of the water park include numerous slides, creature cove, cargo crossing, a water rollercoaster, and two huge 50 person whirl pools.  I love that Castaway Bay will grow with our girls.

The fun doesn’t stop at the water park for the kiddos.  The girls also had a blast participating in some fun resort activities including face painting, meeting Snoopy, coloring beach towels, painting picture frames, and making delicious ice cream sundaes.  There’s even a huge arcade to check out!

And that’s just a touch of what Castaway Bay has to offer.  Be sure to check out my blog posts from 2012 and 2013 for even more information about this amazing destination that definitely helped us beat the winter blues.  Want to go check it out for yourself?  Well then you are in luck because we are giving away 4 day passes.  To enter fill out the form below.  Good luck!
