All of my girls absolutely love cheese and ask for it at practically every meal, snack time, and in between.  In fact I like to joke with my four year old that I’m surprised she hasn’t physically transformed into a piece of cheese yet, hehe.  Like every mom I want to make the best choices for my children and so it is very important to me that I am providing them with healthy nutritious foods to fill their tummies.  One company that takes the guess work out of that decision making is Arla Dofino.

Arla Dofino Cheeses

Arla cheeses have been traditionally crafted for more than 100 years in America’s Dairyland – Kaukauna, Wisconsin – where their cheesemakers have been trained by master crafters going back generations.  All Arla cheeses have the same four core ingredients which include pasteurized milk, cheese culture, salt, and microbial rennet with no added hormones.  They believes that milk is nature’s best food product so only the very best milk will do for their delicious cheese which is why all of their milk comes from known local farmers.  For these reasons and more I love that I can feel confident serving my girl’s Arla cheeses – plus there are so many to choose from!

In fact Arla has four different types to choose from with numerous flavors as well.  While preparing for a playdate with some close friends I grabbed three different Arla cheeses while at the grocery store for both the moms and kiddos to give a try.  Paired up with some crackers, trail bologna, berries, and lemonade we had the perfect afternoon snack that pleased everyone.

We sampled Gouda, Fontina, and Harvati picnic style during our backyard playdate.  The mellow aroma, semisoft texture, buttery and gentle creamy taste of the Creamy Harvati definitely was the crowd favorite with even the littlest guests gobbling it up – Willow and her buddy, Kylie, were huge fans.  It wasn’t long before all of the kiddos has cleared their plated and were coming back for seconds.  Not to mention that while they were eating they were so quiet… an added bonus for any parent, hehe.

The best part was that even though the Arla cheeses were definitely kid friendly and kid approved they were also loved by all the moms in attendance.  Plus for those with a more sophisticated palate Arla offers a delicious range of flavors including Dill Caraway, Jalapeno, and Smoked Harvati as well as Chipotle, Smoked, Pesto, Chili Lime, and Cracked Peppercorn Gouda.

So are you hungry yet?  I know I am just writing this post to share with all my readers!  The good news is you can pick up Arla cheeses at your local grocery store including Target, Walmart, Giant Eagle (that’s where I purchased ours), and lots more.  They are available in blocks, wheels, cake cuts, and slices making different recipes and sandwiches a snap.  Be sure to also visit the Arla Dofino website as well as Pinterest, and Facebook page to find lots of delicious recipes and even more information.

  1. I loooove Gouda, and luckily my kids do, too! Sometimes when I don’t feel like cooking, we take a platter of cheese and fruit outside and make it a simple night of snacks. (I actually have my son convinced that it’s a treat. Don’t tell him it’s easy!)

If these are natural and affordable, I’ll definitely look for them.

  2. I jokingly call my kids cheese heads because they enjoy cheese like your kids do. The Arla Dofino cheeses look delish. What a perfect play date snack!

It is great when kids like cheese, and will snack on something so good for them! I love the way you made the cheese trays – so pretty with the ripe berries, etc. Nice! I want to try these cheeses!

  4. Vicki F says:

These cheeses look fantastic! I am picky about cheese, but this looks (and sounds!) really superb!

I will have to look for this cheese in the grocery. I haven’t tried it and you made it look delish so I will have too. My kids are cheese heads as well.
