It’s officially back to school time and honestly I was a bit worried about how this whole process was going to go down. This would be Kaelyn’s first year of pre-kindergarten so I had no idea how she would react to being away from mama for so long. And any time I would mention anything about back to school Alleigh would have a break down – sobbing, alligator tears, the works. But after taking her to first grade orientation and school supply shopping she seemed to actually be getting excited for school. I wanted to have something special to present the girls with on their very first morning of school and while grocery shopping at Walmart I found just what I was looking for in the greeting card section. They had an amazing selection of Hallmark kids cards to choose from… some that were much more than just a simple card as you will see.
My girls have always loved receiving cards on special occasions, but after reading them they tend to get tossed to the side and forgotten about. But I knew this card would hold a very different fate. I waited until we had finished taking all of the obligatory back to school pictures in the front yard – first day outfit, pictures alone, pictures together, pictures with their book bags, and lunch boxes. Once all of that was accomplished I handed my big girls a very thick envelope addressed to both of them.
They were very eager to rip in to the envelope and were super excited to see Tinker Bell on the front.
They soon discovered that this super thick card actually unfolded. And upon my instructions to be much more gentle with the card than they had been the envelope they began to slowly unfold it.
Both of my girls were thrilled to find that this regular size greeting card had unfolded into a poster bigger than both of them! I explained that I had chosen this specific card just for them because I truly wanted their first day of school and every day after that to be magical. We were in a bit of a rush to head to school, but decided we would hang this very special poster on their closet door that evening. And now every day when they wake up to get ready for school they can look at their Tinker Bell and her fairy friends knowing that their mama wants them to have the best day ever.
