Never Wordless Wednesday: Our Squirrely Front Yard

If you’ve been hanging around any length of time then you probably know that I absolutely adore squirrels.  I really don’t know when or why I started liking them so much, but I just think they are so stinking cute.  Heck, I even decorated Willow’s nursery in a squirrel theme!  And so a few weeks ago when my sister, Willow, and I attended The Great Trail Festival I stumbled across these handmade squirrel feeders and just had to have one for the tree in the front yard.  It came with a corn cob inside and after it hanging on the tree for a while with absolutely no squirrels checking it out I got frustrated.  So when the girls and I were grocery shopping the other day we picked up a huge bag of unsalted peanuts that were still in the shells.  We scattered some on the ground around the tree and on top of the feeder as well as inside.  Within a few hours we had numerous squirrels chowing down!  Willow spent most of the day watching out the living room window cracking up and maybe I did too, hehe.

Now excuse me while I go watch the squirrels! 😉

Haha! That’s so funny to see the squirrel inside the jar. We have what seems like a million squirrels where I live, so I should see about getting a feeder like that too.

So stinkin cute! I love squirrels too. We actually named them “Sammy” when I was little for Samuel or Samantha. We recently tried to rescue a baby squirrel that fell out of a nest. Did everything we could by reading online but he didn’t survive the night to be able to take him to the Humane Society. I felt so horrible, but we did what we could and he didn’t suffer (at least I hope he didn’t.)
