Do you have a child, sibling, or friend attending college?  I am so proud of my baby sister for recently graduating from Kent State University and landing an awesome job using her degree.  However, while living at school I know money was very tight for her and any care packages from home were more than appreciated.  Especially things that she really didn’t want to spend what little money she had on like cleaning supplies.  However, putting together the perfect care package can result in running around to tons of stores and then still needing to get the package shipped out.  Who has time for that?

Certainly not me.  I much prefer to shop from the comfort of my couch at a one stop website that I know will get my order to it’s destination in record time. For me that website is Amazon and for many reasons.  My most favorite feature is definitely Prime shipping.  I love knowing that when I see that little orange check mark with Prime written in blue beside it that I can make sure that item is received within 2 business days which is perfect for procrastinators…. not that I am one, hehe.

I also am a huge fan of Amazon Wish Lists and was rather stoked to hear about Amazon’s newest addition to their Wish List features – #AmazonWishList.  Using this hash tag allows customers to add items to their lists without leaving Twitter. When you discover a tweet that contains an Amazon.com product link simply reply with #AmazonWishList and the product is instantly added to your Amazon Wish List – how easy is that?  Using this new feature is making it incredibly easy for me to keep track of items for different people and occasions – like college care packages!

Most recently I added a few items to my Amazon Wish List that would be perfect for keeping those college kiddos healthy during the upcoming cold and flu season.  They also happen to be products they most likely wouldn’t want to spend money on themselves so receiving them as a gift is perfect.  Two of those items included Brita Pitchers and Clorox Disinfectant Wipes.

My hope is that the Brita pitcher {psst, click that link for $2 OFF!} will help keep them hydrated and healthy while avoiding sugary beverages.  They come in all sorts of fun colors so you can pick what appeals to your recipient best and have wonderful features including reducing chlorine taste and odor, zinc taste, copper, mercury and cadmium which are often found in tap water so that it tastes good!  Plus the electronic indicator tracks when to change the water filter making it literally fool proof.

The Clorox Disinfecting Wipes now come in new and improved packaging which contains a value pack of three 75 count canisters in 2 scents.  These handy wipes kill 99.9% of viruses and bacteria including cold and flu viruses, E. Coli, Salmonella, Staph, and Strep.  The clear-drying formula works on a variety of surfaces which is perfect for dorm rooms and the easy open containers making cleaning a cinch.

When adding a Brita Pitcher and Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to a college care package along with a few other items you will be giving your favorite college student the best chance at staying healthy.  Plus we all know how important it is to stay healthy at college because missing even one or two classes can set you so far behind and then the stress to catch up becomes a vicious cycle.

So the next time you are on Twitter and see an Amazon.com product that would make a perfect gift for the college student or anyone else in your life be sure to reply to the tweet with #AmazonWishList so you don’t forget about it later.  I also want to invite all of my readers to attend a super fun event in celebration of this awesome new wish list feature that will have lots of promotions and prizes.

What:  First ever #AmazonWishList Social Shopping Party
When:  Wednesday, October 15th from 11-12pm EST
Why:  Amazon will be offering special promotions during the hour on the featured products purchased using the #AmazonWishList feature. This includes $1 off all featured products that are purchased during the party using #AmazonWishList and #AmazonHasIt.
Prizes:  Amazon will be giving away 10 Kindles during the party!

I hope to see you at the #AmazonWishList Social Shopping Party next Wednesday.  In the mean time be sure to start using the hash tag and getting those care packages sent off to the special college students in your life.  Before long they’ll be graduates like my sister… time sure does fly.
