I seem to be in that stage of life where both myself and many of my friends are constantly on-the-go, with days filled up of driving kids to school, going to appointments, repeating the alphabet and numbers one at a time, diaper changes, and hoping we make it to the potty in time for the little ones. A few weeks ago, we got a break from all of that during moms coffee night in, and left the kids at home with dad for some play time. This week, I thought it would be nice to let our kids all have a break from us and have a fun time of their own, so we hosted a Playskool Let’s Imagine Elmo toy playdate for all of them!

For our kids’ Let Imagine play date, I invited a few friends that my boys love to play with and their mommies came along too (and they just so happen to be twins!). Our mom group has been friends since middle school, so it only seems natural that all of our kids seem to like to play together too. So between the 3 moms, we had 8 kids (ages 5 and under) all over to my house for some Playskool fun, yummy snacks, and silliness. Extra on the silliness! For our party theme, we got to try out the brand new Let’s Imagine Elmo, along with some other Playskool toys, stickers, and hats that are perfect for busy little hands. Whether the kids were spinning, tumbling, or giggling, the Playskool collection had something to make every little one smile, and was specifically designed to enhance their developmental skills through play and imagination.

Our Let’s Imagine Elmo was the star of the show for our playdate. The new talking Elmo takes the learning adventures from Elmo the Musical off the screen and into the home with his interactive hats and themes. The cute plush 13 inch Elmo comes with 3 hats, which transform Elmo into different themes with different play modes- a cowboy, sea captain, and a prince. Many of the kids really seemed to enjoy the “Countin’ Cowboy” game where you counted with Elmo by squeezing his nose. Reese was a big fan of this as we’re focusing on learning to count to 20 right now. Aiden really liked “Prince Elmo Says” where you follow commands like Simon Says, tickling Elmo, pinching his nose, and making him dance. Ezra just seems to think it’s awesome that he can carry him around and that his mouth moves, hehe! The kids got to try on different hats just like Elmo’s and each could pretend to be that character. We also filled out stickers that went with the Let’s Imagine theme, and asked the kids what they imagined they would be when they grew up. Aiden was sure he’d be a ninja turtle, Reese said he wants to be a Larry Boy… or maybe a Princess (I didn’t even try to explain that one!).

In addition to getting to play, imagine, and pretend with Let’s Imagine Elmo, each playdate friend got to take home some special Playskool toys- a Stack N’ Spin Monkey Gears and a Transformers Mixable, Mashable Heroes in Optimus Prime and Grimlock. The Monkey Gears toy was perfect for some of the smaller kiddos in the group, and included lots of colorful gears that they could stack and rearrange, and then with a push of the big gear on the monkey, they would spin, light up, and play music. The Transformers Mixable, Mashable Heroes were a big hit with the older boys as they already loved both Mr. Potato Head and Transformers. The toy includes two spud bodies that transform into Optimus Prime and Grimlock, and are interchangeable with other Mixable, Mashable Transformers in true Mr. Potato Head style.

I know the kids loved the break from the moms and enjoyed the time to just play and be silly at our Playskool Let’s Imagine Elmo playdate. They enjoyed trying out Elmo, imagining what they can be, and just spending time learning through play. If you have any litte Elmo or Sesame Street fans in your home, be sure to check out Playskool’s colorful Sesame Street collection- including Let’s Imagine Elmo, a variety of musical instruments featuring favorite characters, and some cute water toys for bath time fun! You can find all of the information about getting your own Let’s Imagine Elmo or any of the other Sesame Street toys on the Playskool website.
