Although I’m sad to see summer go, I really love lots of things that winter brings with it. There’s something magical about snow on the ground, Christmas lights everywhere, hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream, and all of the family and love of the season. Something that’s not so magical about the colder months, however, is a skin condition we battle every cold season with the boys- eczema. I was surprised to learn that approximately 35 million infants, children, and adults in the US experience the discomfort and itching of eczema each year just like my boys do. In fact, it’s become such a problem this time of year that October is officially recognized as National Eczema Awareness Month. But just in time for the eczema battle to start this season, we’re arming ourselves with the whole line of Aveeno Eczema Therapy Active Naturals for both adults and baby!

Aveeno Eczema Therapy

I was excited to start the dry season this year with the tools we need to stop the boys’ eczema before it even starts. Almost every year we end up needing to add a steroid cream to our lineup for the bad flare ups with Aiden, but I think this year we just might be able to prevent that! We have already started out proactive by using the Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Soothing Bath Treatment once a week during bath night for the boys (and as a special moisturizing treat for myself, I’ve been using the regular Eczema Therapy Bath Treatment… my skin is awesome right now!). The boys think it’s a special “milk bath” because of the creamy richness of the water, and keep asking for milk to make their skin softer. I’ve definitely noticed a big difference in the nights that we use the bath treatment, and I can even continue to feel a difference in the softness of their skin the next day.

Aveeno Eczema Therapy

After bath, we slather the boys in the Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream before putting on their pajamas. We love that it’s thick enough to cover really well, but not too hard to rub in, and leaves no greasy residue behind on their pj’s or their skin. The softness stays for days, and even works to protect Reese’s face before going out in the cold, since he’s prone to getting eczema around his mouth in the colder months. It’s definitely my favorite product in the Aveeno Eczema Therapy lineup.

Aveeno Eczema Therapy

Just as we started the 3-week therapy with the Aveeno Eczema Therapy products, I already noticed a small eczema spot on Aiden’s shoulder one day when he was scratching. It was raised, dry, rough, red, and itchy. We immediately started using the Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream in a thick layer multiple times a day whenever it would bother him, and I had him really soak his shoulder in the Soothing Bath Treatment on bath nights. I was happy see how well the Aveeno Eczema Therapy line helped that specific targeted area, all while keeping it from appearing anywhere else on his body. The other two boys have also stayed eczema-free, and we haven’t had to use the steroid cream even once. The proof is definitely in the pictures!

Aveeno Eczema Therapy

The whole Aveeno Eczema Therapy lineup has been wonderful to use as the weather turns cold and our skin gets drier for quite a few reasons. First, the Eczema Therapy products have Active Naturals Colloidal Oatmeal- the #1 natural ingredient most recommended by dermatologists to relieve dry, itchy, and irritated skin from eczema. They also contain humectants (attract and retain moisture), ceramide (an essential lipid that helps replenish and maintain the skin’s protective barrier), and panthenol (helps prevent the recurrence of dry skin). And of course, they are dye-free, steroid-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and hypoallergenic- all developed with leading dermatologists and awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.

Aveeno Eczema Therapy Tips

Do you have eczema issues with you or your family members, especially in the winter like we do? If so, make sure to follow the tips above and stop the eczema cycle with the help of the Aveeno Eczema Therapy collection- including Aveeno Eczema Therapy Hand Cream, Bath Treatment, and Moisturizing Cream, and Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream, Soothing Bath Treatment, and Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash. You can also keep up to date with the Aveeno line via Facebook and by following #AveenoEczemaTherapy on social media.
