Have you begun preparing for Halloween?  It’s not too far away!  My girls have their Halloween costumes all picked out and are super excited to go trick-or-treating.  We rarely have any kids stop by in our neighborhood so instead I focus on making cute Halloween treats for the girls to pass out to their friends at their class Halloween parties.  It’s still hard to believe I have two kiddos in school with classrooms full of friends this year.  Today while shopping at Walmart Willow and I wandered into the seasonal candy aisle and picked up a 185 piece bag of assorted Wonka Candy including Original Spree, SweeTarts Chews, Laffy Taffy, and regular SweeTarts.  We also made a trip down the frozen pizza aisle to grab a DiGiorno Original Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza for an easy meal to fuel us up while working on our super cute treat bags.

So back to that candy…..  Willow Jean could barely keep her hands out of it, hehe.  I had an idea in the back of my mind to make some adorable treat bags using the Original Spree candy and the best part was that I knew it was simple enough that my older girls could help with the project.

The supply list is super simple and very inexpensive as well.  Aside from the Original Spree candy you will also need Wilton 3” x 4” Treat Bags, Hallmark Halloween Stickers, card stock, and a stapler.

The first step was to open up all of the Original Spree candy wrappers and divide them by color.  This was a perfect activity for both Alleigh and Kaelyn.  Willow could have helped too if she wouldn’t have been so insistent on eating instead of sorting, hehe!

The candy was then placed by color inside the Wilton Treat Bags.  I used a paper cutter to cut the card stock into 3.5” x 2.5” rectangles which were then folded in half.

These folded pieces of card stock were then slid over the top of the Wilton Treat Bag and stapled in place.  A Hallmark Halloween Sticker was added to the front of the bag that matched the candy inside.

The card stock can either be left blank as it is or you could have your little one sign their name.  Both of my girls had so much fun making these adorable little treat bags and as you can see from the video below it truly was a very simple process.

Alleigh can’t wait to hand these out to her friends at school!

Such a cute idea! It is great to have the kids help for projects like this. And I don’t blame Willow one bit … I would have been sneaking the Spree too! #client

  5. These are so cute! I love that they are something that little ones can help with. We don’t have many trick or treaters here either so this year it is exciting that my daughter is in school so that I can focus on treats for them!
