It’s hard to believe we’ve been homeowners for the nearly eight years.  We have an adorable little bungalow that’s a smidge too small for our six person family, but it’s cozy and the location is perfect.  I’ve always wanted to utilize our backyard more, but it has always been a hassle to try to keep the kiddos back there and the lack of privacy was a bit frustrating.  And so this year I decided it was time to take the plunge, fork out some cash, and install a 6’ wooden privacy fence.  In one week my hubby along with the help of my sister’s boyfriend had the fence finished and I was so happy.  The girls were thrilled to have so much space to run and play as well as enjoying their new swing set.  Last summer I breathed life back into a set of well loved bamboo patio furniture.  Since we had a comfy place to sit I decided that a patio table and chair set was next on the list.  That way we could invite friends and family over to grill out.  I found a set for an unbelievable price and almost as fast as it was placed on our back patio I was ready to invite everyone over.

I swung by Giant Eagle to grab everything I needed for our get together.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, charcoal, barbecue potato chips, watermelon, grapes, strawberries, cantaloupe, corn on the cob, and some ice cold Coke.  While in the soda aisle I noticed the Coke packaging looked a bit different.  The 2-liter bottles, mini-cans, 12-pack cans, and glass bottles all had special “Share a Coke” messaging.  I grabbed a “Share a Coke with Family” 2-liter bottle and headed for the checkout.

On the way I noticed a big bin of 20 ounce Coke bottles which also had “Share a Coke” messaging, but with proper names!  I thought it would be pretty awesome for each of our guests to have their own personalized Coke bottle at our cookout.  I grabbed six 20 ounce bottles and was on my way.

Before everyone arrived a filled a tin bucket with ice and arranged all of the Coke bottles so the names were easy to see.  As everyone arrived and went to grab an ice cold Coke it was fun to see the looks of surprise on their face when they realized there was a Coke just for them.

It was a really nice way to let everyone know we truly appreciate their friendship.  Plus there was no confusing drinks.  How often have you been at a gathering only to set your drink down on a table and when you go back to pick it up find a dozen identical drinks all around it?  In that moment you’re either forced to take a chance on choosing the right drink or tossing it in the trash and getting a new one.  I don’t know about you, but I’m not much of a risk taker when it comes to things like that so I loved that it was completely obvious who each bottle belonged to.

Our guests thought it was pretty cool too.  Some of them even took their empty bottle home with them!

Once my hubby finished grilling the burgers and hotdogs I got the patio table all set up.  Complete with the 2-liter bottle of Coke I had picked up at Giant Eagle.  My mouth is watering just thinking about those juicy cheeseburgers and sweet corn on the cob.

Everyone gathered around the table and dug right in.

If you want to make your own outdoor barbecue extra special consider picking up some Coke at Giant Eagle.  The special “Share a Coke” messaging is available on classic, diet, and zero.  Thousands of names are available on the 20 ounce bottles.  Visit the “Share a Coke” website to make sure yours is available!  Make sure to share your moment by using the hash tag #ShareaCoke on social media.  Your picture could be featured online and potentially on billboards across the United States!

That’s such a great point (about being able to identify who’s drink belongs to who at a party.) I am a Coke girl, myself, it’s just a step above any of the ‘other’ soda brands!
