From the time Aiden was just old enough to say, “George!”, he has absolutely loved Curious George. Over the years, we’ve collected various George shirts, books, and lots of DVDs as each one of the boys have loved Curious George just as much. So when we were given the opportunity to review the brand new Curious George 3: Back to the Jungle movie, my boys were VERY excited! The day the movie arrived we just HAD to stop everything and have a midday movie time, so popcorn became our afternoon snack and we grabbed the bean bag chairs for some George time.
Just as we have come to know from everything else Curious George and Universal 1440 Entertainment, Curious George 3: Back to the Jungle was a very funny and crazy adventure between little George the monkey and his owner, the Man with the Yellow Hat. (And by the way, did you know that the Man with the Yellow Hat has a name- Ted- and his name is mentioned MULTIPLE times in this movie?! I swear that I’ve either missed it repeatedly in other movies or they have never revealed his name. I know in all of our Curious George books, he is just known as the Man with the Yellow Hat!) The story begins with George getting the opportunity to go up into space, and of course getting into a bit of trouble while up there. After crash landing in Africa, the Man in the Yellow hat (TED!!!) goes off with a NASA team to find George and help him complete his original mission. With a bit of creativity and lots of help from native animals and a local scientist, George and the Man in the Yellow Hat help save an entire area of Africa from destructive river flooding.
The boys giggled and laughed throughout the entire movie (and did I mention, it’s a glorious 1 hour and 21 minutes?! I love that this Curious George movie is full length!). My husband and I enjoyed watching as well, but we also recognized some very well known voices- those of Angel Basset and John Goodman! Plus, there was an original song “Welcome to Paradise” by Plain White T’s and an entire bonus section full of sing-alongs for 4 of the movie’s songs- “Ordinary Superman”, “Welcome to Paradise”, “Beautiful Wild”, and “Together Forever”. The score for the movie is lots of fun for the whole family and by composer Heitor Pereira (known for Minions and Despicable Me!).
Plus, as part of the fun of the new Curious George 3: Back to the Jungle, you can use the brand-new, free photo app to create a selfie with your family and George, the Man with Yellow Hat, or some other fun characters from the movie. Ezra (almost 2) LOVED taking tons of pictures and showing everyone while yelling, “Wook!!! George!!! Me!!!”
Curious George 3: Back to the Jungle definitely gets a seal of approval from my 3 George-loving boys, and is now available for purchase on DVD, Digital HD, or On Demand. Plus, you and your family can follow along with all of the new Curious George updates on Facebook and Twitter. Grab a copy now and let us know how your family enjoyed the movie too!
