Newly Renovated Hotel Breakers {Cedar Point–Sandusky, OH}

One of the best things about living in Ohio is being close to Cedar Point, The Roller Coaster Capital of the World!  I absolutely love roller coasters and was a tiny bit sad last year that I wasn’t able to ride any during the entire season including HalloWeekends in October.  Of course it was for a  very good reason – I was pregnant with my adorable Lilah Rose and I’d choose her over roller coasters any day.  But, I admit, it was still a little bummed that I would never get to ride Mantis again.  However, once I found out that Rougarou, a new floorless roller coaster, would be taking it’s place I couldn’t wait for the 2015 operating season to arrive.  I was stoked to head up Cedar Point and check into Hotel Breakers.

As we approached the re-styled, re-imagined, re-freshed Hotel Breakers grand entrance I was truly amazed by how different and beautiful it looked, even through the pouring rain {which never stopped}.  Even though it was absolutely stunning I was hoping the rest of the hotel still retained the historical charm of over 100 years that I loved so much on our previous stays.  As I walked down the main corridor I passed by gorgeous amusement park themed paintings and when I entered the updated lobby I was pleased to still feel the historic charm in the architectural structure of the room.

After checking in we made our way to our hotel room and I was blown away when I walked in.  Having frequented Hotel Breakers numerous times over the past few years I remembered vividly what the guest rooms had looked like – the lack of wi-fi, small tube televisions, outdated floral bedding.  But what I saw now in this completely renovated amusement park themed room was amazing.

For starters the headboards featured photos of the Giant Wheel inside the park and the bedding coordinated beautifully.  There were plenty of pillows and the beds were super comfy.

The technology had all been updated.  Every room now features a large LCD television, complimentary wi-fi, and the lamps even have electrical outlets in them – perfect for recharging all my devices.

All of the furniture, décor, and carpet was new.  I loved all of the pops of red – mirror, chairs, ice bucket, trash can, and more.  I basically fell in love with this upholstered chair and combined lamp with end table.  It was the perfect place to sit and nurse Lilah while enjoying the view of the park.

There was also a large closet area complete with dorm size refrigerator and microwave.  Perfect for storing any leftovers after dining at one of the hotels many restaurants including Starbucks, Surf Lounge, TGI Friday’s, Perkins, and TOMO Hibachi Grill.  So many to choose from!

Even the bathroom was gorgeous. The pops of red could be found in there as well.  And I loved the vintage Cedar Point canvas photo which definitely added a touch of nostalgia to the room.

The next morning we were excited to check out the newly expanded outdoor pool deck which now includes a water play area with zero-depth entry, hot tub, plus new deck chairs and umbrellas before heading over to the park.  But it didn’t appear the weather was going to cooperate with us.

I passed through the gorgeous five story rotunda to get a peek outside.  I was met with torrential rain, high winds, and huge waves.  At that point I knew that there was not going to be any roller coaster riding or swimming in the new pool area happening this weekend.  I was super bummed.

And so we packed up the car and headed out without ever stepping foot in the park.

Hopefully we can make a trip back up to Hotel Breakers soon.  I definitely want to check out the rest of the renovations that we weren’t able to try out so I can share my thoughts with everyone.  If you are heading up to Cedar Point I highly suggest reserving a room.  Not only is it steps away from dedicated entrances to Cedar Point and Soak City, but you will also receive the best deals on Cedar Point admission packages including one hour of early entry into the park.  The list of early entry rides for the 2015 operating season include GateKeeper, Millennium Force, Maverick, Raptor, Iron Dragon, Rougarou, Planet Snoopy, Ocean Motion, and the Midway Carousel.

What are you waiting for – reserve your room at Hotel Breakers today and have a blast at Cedar Point!  I’ve gotta get back there soon to ride Rougarou.  It’s calling my name!

Thank you to Cedar Point for inviting us to experience Hotel Breakers.  All opinions are my own.
