I received this product free of charge in exchange for my honest review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
We’ve had our house up for sale, so consistently keeping the boys’ rooms tidy and organized has been a disaster work in progress.  Part of our uncluttering plan was to eliminate a lot of the unsightly toy mess, and focus on only keeping toys in our home that would promote creativity, encourage imagination, and well, don’t have a lot of tiny pieces.  We’ve realized in the last week or so that the boys have actually spent more time playing with their toys without the toy bins overflowing, which I think is partially because the toys we now have are all about having fun while interacting with each other.  We recently added two new toys that would keep the fun and imagination flowing while sticking with our new toy strategy- the brand new John Deere Monster Treads Lightning Wheels.

I’m not sure if it’s my boys or just kids in general, but toys with wheels have been some of their favorite toys from the very beginning.  I’ve realized that no one ever needs to teach them what moving vehicles or their tires do, and no one needs to show them how to pretend drive them over every surface possible.  So when I put in front of them a large John Deere vehicle (VERY recognizable since we live in a farm and agricultural-heavy area) that has the added bonus of large, light-up wheels, it was love at first sight!

The concept of the John Deere Lightning Wheels Tractor & Gator are exactly what we are trying to accomplish with the new toy strategy.  While a generally simple concept, the vehicles are really fun for the boys both inside and outside.  Outside, the vehicles are somewhat heavy duty and very durable, and can easily be filled with dirt, driven over steep rock mountains, or maneuver through the grass jungles of the wild backyard.  While inside, the wheels come alive as they light up when motion activated.  Another awesome thing that we love is that there are no sounds, so the boys are free to be creative and make up all of the sounds and motions they please (amen for the quiet toys!).

We love the simple, yet fun and imaginative, light-up wheel concept that looks just like a smaller version of the full size John Deere vehicles.  With a price point of $19.99 and geared toward ages 3 and up, John Deere Lightning Wheels are going to become one of our go-to gifts for birthdays.  We know that the kids in my boys’ playgroup would love these just as much as we do (plus many of them are from farm families and see the life size versions of these around their farms!).  Be sure to check them out here!

  13. Oh those are cool! Usually toys have lights AND sounds, so I really like the idea of a quiet toy so they can use their own (which is good for their speech development)! These would be great in our backyard, too much shade has led to some grass-less areas with lots of dirt!

  14. Carol L says:
