Growing up I can remember coming home from church, plopping down on the living room floor, and watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons.  Now with four daughters of my own and a hubby who also loves NASCAR our Sundays are pretty much the same.  And though we love spending time relaxing together from the comfort of our own couch I’ve been thinking that it would be really exciting to experience a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from the grandstands as a family.  You might as well go big or go home which is why I’ve got my sights set on the Monster Mile.  The fastest one-mile oval race track in the world where drivers turn laps at speeds up to 170 miles per hour in less than 23 seconds – Dover International Speedway.

I am absolutely stoked because on October 4th you will find the entire Harper household cheering on our favorite drivers at the Dover International Speedway AAA 400.  I love that this track is very family friendly.  In fact children ages 14 and younger can attend a Sunday NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the Monster Mile for only $10.  These junior seating sections are set in all four turns of the track and include seven alcohol and tobacco free sections making them perfect for families.

The drivers will start their engines at 2:30PM but the fun starts way before that at Dover International Speedway.  No matter your age you’ll find something to keep you entertained until the green flag drops!

FanZone, 8AM-2:30PM:  Located outside Turn 4 of the track and based around the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza you will find eight-acres of entertainment including interactive games, merchandise haulers, bands rocking out, as well as the chance to see and meet some of your favorite drivers.  Question and answer sessions are held at the base of Monster Monument as well as autograph sessions!

Monster FunZone, 10:30AM-2:30PM:  Located right next to the FanZone outside Turn 4 of the track you will find fun for all-ages and the best part about it is admission is free.  Attractions include racing simulators, face painting, prize drawings, bounce houses, show car displays, interactive games, rock climbing, and lots more.

Concert by X Ambassadors, 11AM:  The popular alternative band X Ambassadors will perform a free pre-race concert on the Victory Plaza Stage at 11AM.  Their no. 1 hit “Renegades” has held the top spot on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart for 10 consecutive weeks!  Plus X Ambassadors lead singer Sam Harris will also perform the National Anthem prior to the start of the race.

Plus lots more!  And after all that excitement we still get to watch our favorite drivers race around the one-mile concrete oval.  I don’t know about you, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that Jimmie Johnson will find himself in the winner’s circle for the eleventh time at Dover when the checkered flag waves.  Of course my hubby has a different opinion, hehe.
