Every once in a while I get a nostalgic feeling and take some time to go back over all of our pictures of the boys from the time they were newborns. The long nights seem to stretch on forever, but looking back, they grew so fast. The rate at which they each developed just astounds me! Even today I had to take a moment to think about just how quickly Ezra has learned to talk since getting his tubes in his ears in February. They are just constantly learning and changing, you know?!
In effort to keep their minds and little hands learning, the toys in our house are constantly changing as their stage of life changes. One constant thing that has never changed though, is that we’ve always kept VTech toys in our home. We’ve always loved their forward-thinking and quality toys, and now VTech has created the online Milestones resource to help parents select toys based on the individual needs of children from birth to nine years old. Plus, VTech’s Expert Panel provides critical insight into the development of its learning products.
Recently, we had the opportunity to try out a variety of Vtech learning toys with all three of the boys, and highlight what we love best about each of them.
VTech® Sit-to-Stand Ultimate Alphabet Train™
There is SO much to do with this toy! It’s fun for all three of my boys (ages 2, 3.5, and 5). Each of them uses it in a different way to suit their level of development. Ezra (2 years old) loves to put the blocks in and listen to the sounds, as well as wheel it around behind him as a wagon. Reese (3.5 years old) and Aiden (5 years old) love to sit (and stand!) on it and flip through the book pages. I love that this this toy is so versatile and can cater to a wide range of ages and skill levels, and really encourages physical play and motor skills. It’s a fun toy that our whole family can enjoy together.
VTech® Spin & Learn Ball Tower™
This tower is lots of fun for Ezra. It has so many buttons, functions, and things to do that it keeps him entertained for quite a while. By changing small things, he can make something different happen each time a ball drops. We’re just starting to work on colors, and he loves to hear the color of the ball spoken as he drops it in. Plus, all of my boys seem to be into insects, so they love the insect options. Like our other Vtech toys, the construction is pretty sturdy because he is definitely rough with it, and it’s held up pretty well.
VTech® Spinning Lights Learning Hippo™
This fun hippo is one of Ezra’s favorite toys at the moment. At first I thought it was more traditional like the older spinning letter toys, and then we got to play with it. It has the feel of the more classic toy but has some very cool functions. First, the different panels up as it spins (rather than an arm), and there are multiple different functions, including music, phonics, and animals. Plus, you can play games where it asks you to find certain animals or letters. Even Reese really loves to play the games, and Ezra loves to make the hippos mouth move and hear him talk. It’s definitely a very fun way to reinforce letters and phonics, and it will grow with my two year old as he learns more about letters and phonics.
VTech® Write & Learn Creative Center™
This is currently one of my boys’ favorite toys! All three of them absolutely love it. Ezra loves it for drawing and learning shapes, and enjoys that it is small enough to carry around. He loves to hide in my closet away from the big boys with it and draw to his heart’s content. Reese is learning to form and recognize his letters, so the step-by-step drawing instructions and examples on the display screen are perfect to help with his hand-eye coordination. Aiden loves that he can draw the letters and shapes, but also loves the more advanced objects that he can draw with the stencils. It’s perfect for any child that loves to draw, and especially helpful for those that are learning letters. We’ve been very impressed by how user friendly it is for all three of them at each individual stage.
Overall, Vtech has totally held up to the standards that we are used to from them. Their high quality, educationally based toys bring hours of fun to the boys, no matter what stage they are in!
