The weather might be warming up, but in Ohio we are still a few months away from pool days.  However that hasn’t stopped us from swimming because a few weeks ago our family visited Castaway Bay in Sandusky, Ohio.  My girls and I always seem to get some cabin fever in the winter months and spending a few days at the water park is a sure fire way to cure it.

CastawayBay Water Park

We’ve made our annual trip up to Castaway Bay for the past four years and each year I have shared our experiences through blog posts.  Our first few years most of the time was spent in the toddler tide pool, but before long the kids were being more adventurous exploring in the Lookout Lagoon Family Funhouse and conquering the Cargo Crossing.  Since I have dedicated quite a few posts to the different attractions inside the water park as well as the overnight accommodations I wanted to do something a little different this year.

Castaway Bay Through The Years

First I want to talk about something totally new at Castaway Bay – Quaker Steak and Lube!  After spending hours in the water park these little girls tummies were hungry making it the perfect time to check out the new restaurant.  On the menu we found award winning ribs & burgers, tempting street foods plus Best Wings USA with 25 signature sauces. Willow chowed down on some barbecue wings and told us they were delicious.  Dustin was thrilled with the amount of televisions and we got to enjoy a Cavs game while filling our bellies. When the weather is warmer there is also patio seating available as well as full bar service in a fun atmosphere.

Though not new to Castaway Bay the next thing I want to talk about was new to us as our girls had their first Club Castaway experience.  Before heading down the girls changed into their pajamas because this event was all about winding down for the evening.  We enjoyed a movie on the big screen about when Snoopy was born.  Then we were surprised with a visit from none other than Snoopy himself.  He brought along a bed time story and once the book was read all of the children were able to give him a good night hug.  This was the perfect way to end the day as a family before tucking our sleepyheads into bed for the night.

If you are looking for a way to beat the cabin fever while waiting for summer to get here then just take a trip to Castaway Bay in Sandusky, Ohio.  No matter the temperature outside it’s always 82° in the water park!
