Yesterday evening we had the opportunity to attend the opening night performance of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Out of This World at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.  Through out the evening we experienced an intergalactic adventure that took us to many different planets before landing safely back on Earth.  But before the show even began we had a blast with the Starseeker’s Early Access which is free with all tickets.

The girls had so much fun meeting many of the circus performers up close and getting their pictures taken with them too.  They participated in an interstellar dance party which was a great way to get their energy out before the show began.  While all of this was happening I tweeted a few photos of the girls meeting the circus performers and they were so excited to see their photo appear larger than life on the big screen above the arena floor.  It was like they were part of the circus too!

Once the show began we found ourselves just a few rows back from the floor experiencing a new genre of circus with an interactive, action-packed storyline that followed a heroic quest of good versus evil.

The story begins with magical circus Starseeker Paulo, who travels the universe with a Magic Telescope in search of the greatest and most talented circus stars. Paulo discovers two hopeful young stars, Johnathan and Davis. After an audition, the Magic Telescope selects Johnathan as a future Ringmaster. Davis is then recruited by Tatiana, Queen of the Circus of Fire, to join her on her evil quest for intergalactic circus domination.

After searching the galaxy far and wide, Starseeker Paulo and Ringmaster Johnathan have all of the stars needed for their circus. The two are ready to bring The Greatest Show On Earth® back to Earth, when Queen Tatiana captures their circus stars and hides them on distant planets across the galaxy to ensure that her own Circus of Fire can rise unchallenged.

Paulo and Johnathan’s mission to retrieve their circus stars from across the galaxy begins!

I don’t want to give away all of the amazing acts that you will see at the show, but thought it would be fun to touch on a few that our family enjoyed the most.  In the first act we were immediately transported to outer space with the Simet Wheel which is the only act of its kind in the world.  The Simet Wheel combines the skill of tightrope walking with the added challenge of a rotating wheel while three performers, dressed as astronauts, give the impression that they are defying gravity.  All of their movements gave the illusion that they were walking on the moon.

Lilah’s favorite act took place on the sand planet with the Big Cats or as she likes to call them “kitties.”  It was truly amazing to watch Alexander Lacey, King of the Big Cats, show off these gorgeous animals strength and agility.  This is also the first time that Lacey has presented two male lions, Masai and King, within the same act.  At the end of the act my girls thought it was so silly when he told one of the lions to go back to his cage and instead he rolled around rubbing his back on the ground.  Of course this was part of the act, but they said it reminded them of our dog, T-Rex, when he rolls around on the living room floor and I definitely had to agree with them.

Alleigh really enjoyed the King Charles Troupe which put on a spectacular display of galactic basketball.  It was truly the wackiest game of one-wheeled basketball I have ever seen and their ball-handling skills were definitely out of this world.  Plus for the first time in 30 years, the troupe includes a female rider Aaniya Raphiel, 21 years old and the granddaughter of one of the group’s original members, who is now the group’s manager.

And that’s just a few of the acts you will see in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Presents Out of This World.  There are also horses, dogs, acrobats, clowns, motorcycles and so much more.  It’s not too late to get tickets because the show will be in Cleveland, Ohio for a few more days.
