Enjoying Pizza While Supporting The Literacy Project

Yesterday I asked Alleigh, Kaelyn, and Willow to work together to clean their bedroom which was a complete disaster.  As the day went on it became very apparent that Alleigh was doing the vast majority of the cleaning while her sisters were playing or complaining.  Once the room was cleaned I decided to reward Alleigh by taking her out to eat – just the two of us.  She chose Pizza Hut and I was absolutely stoked.  I love Pizza Hut, but we usually order delivery.  There’s just something extra delicious about Pizza Hut fresh from the oven still in the pan.

Once we were seated I immediately noticed the “Will you help us fight literacy?” section on the place mat.  I love that Pizza Hut partners with such wonderful organizations like First Book to really make a difference in the world.  First Book is a nonprofit social enterprise that provides new books to children in need. Since their founding in 1992, First Book has distributed more than 135 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families.  Every child should have the opportunity to take an adventure by simply opening a book.  I think it is amazing that First Book and Pizza Hut are working together to make that a reality.

Alleigh loves to read and quite often I find her nose buried in a book.  She definitely reminds me of myself growing up.  On Saturday mornings you’d find me in bed reading books rather than on the couch watching cartoons.  And many times I would have to be told to put the book down when it was time to eat dinner.

That is one thing I didn’t have to tell Alleigh when we were at Pizza Hut because when our bread sticks arrived at the table that girl was digging in!  Then she washed it all down with a big swig of Robinson’s Fruit Shoot.  This is one of her favorite drinks and so she was very excited to see that they are now available at Pizza Hut.  As a mom I love that they are made with real fruit juice and plenty of water.  Plus they contain no added sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, or artificial flavors and coloring.

The other awesome thing about enjoying a Robinson’s Fruit Shoot at Pizza Hut is that it also helps in the fight against illiteracy.  Every time a Fruit Shoot product is purchased at Pizza Hut® from Nov 10, 2016 through April 30, 2017, .05¢ will be donated per bottle to First Book.

The next time you take the family out to Pizza Hut be sure to order a Robinson’s Fruit Shoot for the kids.  They’ll be happy because it tastes so yummy.  You’ll be happy because it’s a wonderful alternative to sugary sodas.  And everyone can feel good knowing that a donation is being made to First Book so that every child will have access to books and educational resources.
