There is something truly special about dogs.  No dog is “just” a dog.  They are so much more than that.  Our dog, T-Rex, is a member of our family.  He is my fur baby and even has his very own spot in the header of my blog right along side my human children.  He entered our lives so unexpectedly roughly a year and a half ago.  While driving home after dropping my kids off at school I was nearly home when I saw him limping in the middle of the snow covered road on a freezing January morning.  I immediately put my vehicle in park, jumped out and tentatively called him over.  I admit his characteristics made him look a bit fierce to me and I wasn’t sure if he would be friendly especially since he seemed to be hurt.  To my surprise he came right to me and when I opened the car door and asked if he wanted to go home with me he jumped right in.  We drove the rest of the way home and after pulling in my driveway I opened the door, he jumped out, peed on the tree in our front yard and ran right up on to the front porch waiting for me to open the door.  At that moment I felt a tug deep in my heart that this dog had chosen me to be his owner and I instantly fell in love with him.  Since that day we have been inseparable and I truly couldn’t imagine my life without this gorgeous pup by my side.  There is quite a bit more to the story of how T-Rex officially became a member of our family and if you’d like to learn more I invite you to check out the “About Me” tab {story coming SOON! I promise.}

Since becoming an official Harper, T-Rex has become a loyal member of our household.  When my husband is working midnights he sleeps right beside me at night, keeping my girls and I safe.  When I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic he was right beside me every step of the way I took in bettering my health.  He walked mile upon mile with me and was always happy to be there.  If I am feeling under the weather he curls up beside me on the couch and is the absolute best snuggle buddy.  It is practically impossible to be in a bad mood when this adorable pup is by my side.

Since he is always there for me one of the best ways I can say thank you is to treat him to delicious Milk-Bone dog treats.  He was a huge fan of the new Milk-Bone Farmer’s Medley Grain Free Turkey & Pumpkin Biscuits.  The great thing about showing my love to T-Rex one delicious Milk-Bone at a time is that by doing so I am also helping to donate $250K a year to Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs to children and adults with physical disabilities and special needs.

This is the 20th year that Milk-Bone has partnered with Canine Assistants and to celebrate they created this heartwarming video that features some of the dogs and their owners that have been helped over the years.  Before clicking play I highly recommend having a tissue handy because I may have shed a few tears.

Do you have a dog?  Let him know how much you love him by treating him to a delicious Milk-Bone Biscuit today.
