Almost half way through his second grade year, my oldest, Aiden, has definitely found his favorite subject- science. He’s also realized that he has a natural talent for sports and loves to play and watch them all. So this Christmas, we were really excited to find out about a unique STEM toy to put under the tree that involves everything he loves into one. We were able to try out one of the fantastic kits from Little Medical School– the My Little Sports Medicine Kit.
Packaged in its unique box- a medical satchel- the My Little Sports Medicine Kit was packed full of activity after activity that Aiden absolutely loved. He was so excited to open it up and go through the included workbook and lessons, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that all of the contents of the box were high quality. From hospital grade gloves to a very realistic feeling white coat, Aiden was truly excited to see what he could learn about sports medicine.
With a handy workbook, we simply followed all of the directions that are included. It started very similar to real medical school with an oath, a white coat ceremony, and then a name badge. We worked through the workbook over the next few days, and he learned about everything from the bones, how to treat common sports injuries, and how the different types of joints in the body move. Each activity included top quality supplies and interesting information about that specific part of the body and its function, as well as how it relates to sports. The workbook finishes with a common sports “surgery” that each student gets to perform.
After completing all of the activities, students even get their very own graduate certificate for completing their course of study, just like the professionals.
Little Medical School has not only the Sports Medicine Kit, but it also has the My Little Pediatrician and My Little Veterinarian sets that are perfect for whatever interests your kids have this winter. While the Sports Medicine Kit got Aiden’s excitement and smiles, all 3 sets were recently awarded The National Parenting Center’s Fall 2017 Seal of Approval.
Each kit is priced a little higher than your average children’s medical kit at $49.95, but the quality far supasses any kits my children have had in the past. Plus, even though Aiden has already completed the included workbook, many of the activities can be done multiple times and the pieces reused in pretend play with his brothers. (They’ve bandaged up each other’s ankles about 395 times in the last few weeks!)
Just in time for Christmas, now through 12/31/17, Little Medical School is offering a 15% discount code for readers to purchase their own kits. Just enter the code “kidstuffPR2017” at checkout, with no minimum purchase required!
