School is back in full swing again, and a sense of routine is beginning. My maternity leave has also ended, and I’m getting in the groove of working again, just with another little person at home waiting for me! With all of the routines comes homework each night, running kids to school, and sports practices. It also seems to come with a healthy dose of back-to-school grouchiness in the evenings. We’ve tried a few strategies this year to combat new routine stress like spending evenings outdoors, going for walks, and playing some games. While we all love games, it’s sometimes … …..
Our family has always been a fan of competition and team building. From the time my husband and I first met each other, we’ve always been a bit more than slightly competitive. From church camp sports teams as kids to paintball as teens and now tabletop board games as a family, we love to compete and challenge each other. Our boys have definitely followed in our footsteps as they have entered the world of sports, and have taken full advantage of our big yard this summer to try out different games. Recently, we were able to invite other families and … …..
We’ve been a family of 6 for just about 4 weeks now, and summer break is in full swing. While my husband has been off work with me to adjust to our new family and sweet baby Julian, we’ve had so much fun spending quality time with our boys. Since the weather has been pretty much beautiful, we’ve spent a ton of time enjoying the outdoors. Our boys play outside every day they possibly can, and we’ve been burning through the sunscreen like no tomorrow. Since children receive three times as much sun exposure than adults do every year, we … …..
This is our first summer in our new house, and the boys are so excited to spend tons of time outdoors. Before, we lived in the city with a sizeable yard for the neighborhood, but it was shaded and pretty rocky. Now we sit on almost half an acre with a tulip tree and some pine trees, and flat, beautifully green country lawn. The boys have already started soaking up the summer sun with their swing set and trampoline, but we had a heat wave last week that demanded something a bit more cool. We broke out our brand new … …..
School is quickly coming to a close for our boys, and we are all so excited for the arrival of warmer weather. This year, we even have a new baby joining us, and we’re ready for a summer packed full of fun and learning! But unfortunately, along with all of the outdoor activities and beautiful weather, a nasty cold bug or two seems to catch on in the transition. Even though we try our best to keep those germs away, sick still seems to get very real in our house. Plus, when you have a home full of boys like we … …..
I love taking photos of my kids. I try to take as many as I can so that those fleeting moments can be captured forever, and looked back upon when they’re older. With my iPhone, I find that I do a great job at the photo taking and posting on social media to share with my family and friends. What I don’t do a great job with, however, is actually printing out the photos to keep for the future. Just the other day, I realized that I never printed of the boys’ school photos for our family, even though I … …..
A sample was provided for my review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. I love Christmas and giving gifts, but I always find that struggle of wanting to get really good gifts that someone will enjoy without ruining my budget. Because when it’s all said and done, I definitely want to be able to pay my bills and not gain any debt while blessing others. For me, gift exchanges and meaningful gifts on a smaller budget require thinking outside the box, and sometimes, a pleasant surprise find in the store. Well this Christmas, there’s a very pleasant and … …..
This post is part of a sponsored campaign for Captain McFinn’s Swim & Play App. I received compensation for my participation, but my review and opinions are my own. I love helping my boys learn new skills, but especially love when I get to see them grasp new concepts outside of strictly education. For instance, Reese is currently learning life and social skills in his preschool class, like manners, hand washing, and preparing simple snacks. I love seeing him grow as a person, especially when that growth tends to lead into new friendships and relationships for him. It’s so fun … …..
I’ve been talking about Christmas and shopping a lot lately… probably because I am just so far behind! So it’s definitely on the forefront of my mind as I really try to come up with those fun, unique, and wonderful gifts. I try hard to not only get my kids toys that they’ll play with, but ones that will last up to some serious use. And every once in awhile, when I can find that “it” gift, I get that joy that comes with giving another person something really special. Luckily, I can always seem to find that “it” gift … …..
We’ve been so busy finishing the sale of our home and buying a new one that Christmas and the holiday season have totally snuck up on me! I tend to be a very early shopper, searching out the best deals throughout the spring and summer. By now, I usually have a majority of my shopping completed- especially for my boys (ages 2, 4, and 5). Well, this year, I have about three things bought for them. Since I thought a few of you may be in the same boat as me with the bustle of the school year taking over, … …..
